@DavidKlion @T0dgerWaters The big protests against the Iraq War largely happened before the war, while the government was spending months trying to persuade the American people to get on board with it. With Iran, the government didn’t bother building support ahead of time. I think that’s the key variable.

@T0dgerWaters Sure but that doesn't account for Iraq. I think in both cases they were trying to demonstrate opposition and eventually shift public opinion. But there's nothing to shift, a sizable majority hates this war and hates Trump for starting it.

Spotted at JFK Terminal 4: two small groups of ICE/DHS agents (including ERO) standing around in the departures area. I’ve seen at least one ICE agent at a TSA checkpoint, but mostly they don’t appear to be doing a whole lot

@sethharpesq I mean, if you read the whole story, the author does come to the conclusion that the entire thing was utter bullshit and his source was a con artist who was arrested, rather than kidnapped, and who stole his own bother's life savings as a "ransom" payment.

@Alonso_GD I have a friend who managed to somehow rig up an old N64 to a CRT TV in order to play this game, which he loved when it came out, as it should be played with an original controller. He found it utterly unplayable because he grew accustomed to modern controls over the decades.

Has Putin's decision to attack Ukraine put Russians living outside of Russia at risk? Would anyone justify or view an attack on Russians abroad in protest of Putin's policies as understandable or even sane? Why do only Jews seem to have this burden?

The morally indefensible decisions Jewish institutions and leaders have made over years re Palestine have predictably put every Jew on earth at risk. I don't want to see Jewish civilians (me, my friends, my family) attacked. But I expect it to happen a lot more often now.

@DavidKlion @blankslate2017 If, god forbid, some Ukrainian who lost his whole family in a Russian bombing were to attack a Russian Orthodox church that strongly supported Putin, I'm pretty sure plenty of people would say "this is a despicable act of terrorism, but the motive isn't a total mystery to me."
