Bullshit & misleading article. Dawn deliberately overlooks that Kasim himself admitted in his tweet that he was advocating for the revocation of Pakistan’s GSP+ trade benefits. It also ignored that the conference’s entire stated purpose was linked to applying pressure to Pakistan through threats of revoking GSP+. Dawn fails to mention that Dr. Naseem Baloch, linked to BLA’s political front BNM, was seated right next to Kasim. It is worth asking who or what exactly Dawn is loyal to. Its journalism is not loyal to truth, nor can it be considered a “regime mouthpiece”. During the Arab Spring, Dawn was among the most critical local media outlets—routinely publishing pieces against Pakistan’s policy of supporting Muamar Gaddafi & Bashar Al Assad. Last week, Dawn & BBC Urdu published the exact same sensational headline regarding Asim Munir’s meeting with Shia scholars. Those headlines—alongside PTI’s propaganda—is where the controversy started. Dawn issued no “fact check” after a number of scholars from the meeting said the content was misrepresented by PTI-aligned & influenced “scholars” seeking to ignite sectarian strife. Surely the implications of that propaganda stunt by PTI (sectarian bloodshed) would have been enough to warrant a fact check from Dawn, yet here we are…
