@melanie42196528 @KernCMC @Mathgarden As teachers, it's our responsibility to create a safe leaning environment in our classrooms. The relationship that teachers attain with their students is crucial for a successful intellectual, social, and emotional leaning experience when they are teaching math.

Q4: Why is it so important that teachers meet/reach students intellectually, socially, and emotionally when teaching mathematics? What role do storytelling and the history of mathematics play in achieving this goal? #kerncmc #KernMathRecess #EDEL5200 #MathRecess @Mathgarden

@KernCMC @Mathgarden Rita Pierson stated that kids don't learn from people they don't like and I agree with her quote because teachers needs to understand the value and importance of relationships. Educators have the responsibility to engage with their students in all areas to achieve their goals.

@Mathgarden @KernCMC Teachers have to make sure to create a safe leaning environment in their classrooms where students feel comfortable and secure with mistakes and struggle, express their opinions in respectful ways, and have fun while they are leaning.

@KernCMC @Mathgarden The purpose of education and schooling should be to help students to create and improve their critical thinking, solve problem strategies, and cultivate social skills. Standardized tests will help to measure student achievements, and how accountable teachers and schools are.

@EricaChristole2 @KernCMC @Mathgarden Teaching shouldn't be about if my student is right or wrong, or how much work they can have done. Teaching should be how meh students got to their answers, what kind of strategies they used and how much fun they had during their learning process.

@KernCMC @Mathgarden Learning is the purpose for teaching students. An education system that emphasizes learning over grades would provide students will a better math experience. Grades are for sorting, not for encouraging. Most teachers in ungraded settings report a rise in understanding. #EDEL5200

@KernCMC @Mathgarden As educators, our goal is to provide fun lessons while we teach our students different strategies to solve problems. Therefore, lessons that involve games and experiments will help our students to learn, explore,, and extend their knowledge while they are having fun. #EDEL5200

@nycole_miller @KernCMC @Mathgarden Great post and quote "Don't step their struggle". As a teacher, It was to see my students struggling with their math problems. I always wanted to jump and help them without noticing that my help was stealing their critical thinking, stealing the importance of their struggle.

@KernCMC @Mathgarden One of my mentor teachers used to say, "Don't steal their struggle." It's instinctive to want to help and give answers, but students learn through making mistakes that lead to connections. If we steal their struggle, we steal their learning. Instead, we should provide support!

@KernCMC @Mathgarden Jo Boaler states that struggling is absolutely critical to mastery and that we can't achieve anything without being comfortable with mistakes and struggles. Letting students struggle during a math problem will help them discover different ways a problem can be solve #EDEL5200

@KernCMC @WrightMath314 @Mathgarden Speed, Uno, Mancala are all games I have played with students that disguise number sense learning, but also create memories. They love playing and return the next day asking to play those games. These create memories, especially if you teach them a game they will love!

@KernCMC @Mathgarden There are many games that can promote better mathematical memories among our students, friends, and families. Some of them are Uno, Dice games, Dominoes, puzzles, cards, and Monopoly. #EDEL5200 #MathRecess

Chapter #1 Just Play!! It's not just to play it's how to play it. A good math game take away a boring math lesson and make creative and talented thinkers.

@HulisesGonzale2 @Duncannedd Hello Hulises, isn't Kahoot great?? My students love it, I use it as a review every time I finish a ELA or Math unit. I really like it because my students are learning while they are having fun playing and competing to each other. #CUSBTEd

A1) My favorite resource that we have gone over would have to be Remind 101 & Kahoot. I really like Remind 101 because as a sport coach you can share out time changes or any other things. I think Kahoot can be used for great study routines prior for a test. #CSUBTED @Duncannedd
