@TJadlow @MobiusDick No. Conflating human being (biological) with personal being (metaphysical) is a category error.

Sympathy is a trait, an ability, and evolution determines if you get it or not. It has nothing to do with being moral on your view. Judging a person that doesn’t have sympathy, on atheism, is like judging a person for being mentally handicapped. At most it’s a genetic disorder, and if anything YOU should have sympathy for them (because they’re disabled). Think about it.
Atheistboi@athiestboi

If you need religion to have human sympathy you’re a bad person.

@TJadlow @MobiusDick You went from personhood to type of being a little too quickly for my comfort. You dodged the question as to whether individuals with psychopathy are non-persons. Your deficiency/perfection argument suggests either a limitation in the efficient cause or a different class of being

@Barbara33623276 @MobiusDick Does the type of being to which you refer have the capacity for sympathy? I don't know why this is so difficult for you, frankly.

@TJadlow @MobiusDick How does your efficient cause explain psychopathy? You suggest that the efficient cause “bestows” attributes of sympathy, so what efficient cause is responsible for this “disorder”?

@Barbara33623276 @MobiusDick Really....*really*?! Does the type of *person* who has psychopathic *disorder* exemplify a perfection for their class of being or a deficiency? I don't even have to hardly engage my brain for that one.

@MobiusDick @TJadlow Trey asserts that sympathy is necessarily correlated to personhood. Conversely, are individuals with psychopathy non-persons? How does god as efficient cause explain psychopathy?

Evolution has selected for sympathy and empathy bc we survive better in. groups. It’s as simple as that. The group dynamics started to appear long before we were primates with the first animals to understand they survived better as a group, than as an individual. Even watching politics is still watching evolution in action.

@farmingandJesus @ladyjjw1983 Isaiah 9 is about Hezekiah. A child HAS been born to us. Not will be born to us. Hezekiah was not yet King when this prophecy was given. Isaiah 9 prophesied about God’s defeat of Sennacheribs armies while which is compared to what similarly occurred in the days of Midian.

Have I seen atheists going door to door trying to spread their religion? No I can't say that I have. Instead they go to the government and get their religion to be taught in school so they can indoctrinate your children and then they sue any other religions trying to do the same thing. That's totally not force.
𝕷𝖚𝖈𝖎𝖋𝖊𝖗@LucifersTweetz

Christians think atheists are trying to force their lifestyle on them, but I’ve never had an atheist knock on my door trying to convert me. Have you?

@TJadlow @Indeductive @WinstonHottman Now would be an excellent moment to reveal that this “notion of yours” is not in fact your notion at all, is it Trey? Ratzinger had considered many of the refutations and had you understood his theological work on relationality, perhaps you could respond without the ad hominem

@oliverburdick Who do you all claim is the head of your church again? You all say god has no control over humans (free will) and shouldn’t be held accountable as the sovereign head of the church, yet also say god is in control of everything…. arguments without substance, only of convenience.

Two fish. Five loaves of bread. According to the Bible, this was enough to feed thousands. Today, it barely feeds a small family. Maybe the real miracle wasn’t the multiplication… maybe it was how easily people believed it. 🐟🍞

⚡️☀️💨🇨🇳 There is a strange moment unfolding in the global economy. One part of the world is dreaming about the past, while another is building the infrastructure of the future. In the United States, political rhetoric increasingly sounds like a return to the industrial imagination of the 1930s. Coal mines, smokestacks, and heavy industry powered by fossil fuels are presented as symbols of strength, nostalgia wrapped in black dust. But across the Pacific, a very different story is unfolding. China is electrifying everything. Roads are filling with electric vehicles, factories are powered by massive solar farms, and entire regions are increasingly connected to grids fed by wind turbines turning day and night. The contrast is striking. One vision imagines reopening mines and digging deeper into the earth for energy that becomes harder and more expensive to extract every year. The other vision builds machines that harvest energy falling freely from the sky or blowing across the landscape. Solar panels do not run out. Wind does not need to be drilled. Once the infrastructure is built, the fuel itself arrives every morning with the sunrise and every evening with the wind. That changes the entire economic equation. Electric vehicles in China are increasingly charged by electricity generated from these sources, meaning the energy powering mobility is moving closer to something that feels almost free once the system is built. Compare that with oil or coal. Every barrel must be pumped, transported, refined, and burned. Every ton of coal must be dug from the ground and shipped across continents. One system spends the future digging deeper into a finite past. The other builds an electrical ecosystem where energy flows continuously through wires, batteries, and vehicles. History tends to reward the societies that build the infrastructure of the next century rather than the ones trying to preserve the machinery of the last. So the real question facing the world is not simply about cars or energy sources. It is about direction. Are we building systems that get cheaper, cleaner, and more abundant over time? Or are we clinging to technologies that grow more expensive and fragile as the easy resources disappear? The future will almost certainly run on electrons rather than smoke. The only uncertainty left is who chooses to build that future first. What do you think will define the next global industrial race: energy abundance or energy nostalgia? And which countries are positioning themselves to dominate the infrastructure of the electric century? ⚡ Stay connected, Follow Gandalv @Microinteracti1

@sharonbrobst @Brcremer He didn’t preach a social gospel? Matthew 25 suggests otherwise. How about that good samaritan parable? Feels a bit like social teaching to me. One might suggest that teaching the gospel necessarily includes those aspects 🤷‍♀️

@Brcremer If we are not teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, calling people to repent and be baptized then we profoundly have misunderstood why Jesus came. He did not come to preach a social gospel but to call people to repentance. He came to show us the Father.
