Beloved of God

It’s just a thought…I haven’t worked through it yet….

This thought came as I was reading the OT. It isn’t out of character for God to judge/destroy a nation on behalf of His people.

I had a wild thought. What if, and it’s a big WHAT IF, God is using Trump and the US to judge Iran because He has heard the prayers of His people who are suffering and being slaughtered by a government whose goal is to kill all the Christians?

@HomemakingLady I’d like to know where? Or is he just speaking of leather? We just bought our granddaughter a regulation WNBA ball (not leather) and it was no where near that. We actually got it on sale but prices ran around $25.

@LordBarak @drantbradley This is a lie parents believe. My son didn’t play basketball until his freshman year of HS. He was quite good and was not hindered by not playing prior.

@drantbradley Correct but it's hard b/c we want our child to succeed but the kid can't even make the high school team if he's not doing youth sports from age 5. Plus they look & feel behind on the court/field b/c they are. No one wants their child to be the worst one our there.

Every time I speak at a church about the lack of wisdom in putting kids in travel sports, I get massive pushback from parents. That same class of parents then wonders why their adult children, in their 20s, are nominal. Here come the replies in 3, 2, 1: “Well, not my kid…”

@drantbradley Our boys were not allowed to play on travel teams. It often meant they also couldn’t play in community leagues. And yes, both were athletic. In fact our oldest got a scholarship to play basketball until he blew his knee out in the final all star game his Sr year.

We do not talk enough about how many women stop enjoying their birthdays while they’re married. Not because they “don’t care about getting older,” but because the day becomes one more emotional obstacle course to manage. She is not waking up wondering what cake she wants or how she wants to feel; she is scanning the room, reading his mood, lowering her expectations before breakfast. By the time the candles come out, she has already spent the day protecting herself from disappointment

@Notwokenow She’s 12! This is learned behavior. She has gotten by with this before without consequences. It’s not too late to start but it will be harder now.

AITAH? Saturday night my oldest granddaughter, Di (12), asked to borrow my AirPods. I said yes but she had to clean them after she used them. Late last night, I was looking for them and couldn’t find them. I texted her and asked where she put them. Zero response. This morning, she wrote me to ask me to bring 1 of her leotards to her at school ( 35 minutes away), because she forgot them all here. Again, I asked about the AirPods. Again, no response. Instead, she asked if would PLEASE bring her leotard because she doesn’t have any at her Dad’s house and she has practice after school. At this point, I’m annoyed. I ask about the AirPods for the 3rd time, and I don’t mention the leotard. She finally says this: “They must have ended up in my backpack.” I tell her nothing “ends up” in her backpack without her purposefully putting it in there. I further explain that she has stolen from me, and then has the nerve to ask me for a favor. This is a child who I get up extra early for to do her hair whenever she asks. Who I spoil beyond reasonableness. She then says I can have MY AirPods back when I drop off her leotards. The f’ing nerve of this kid. She doesn’t put her leotards in her backpack, but she does put my property in there, without my consent. I inform her she is a thief and that me doing any favors for her AT ALL is over until she returns my property. And I am not playing. She will get nothing from me. No more doing her hair, getting her new clothes, driving to pick her up or drop her off at her bestie’s house, no more special request dinners or breakfasts. I am done. I think a hard lesson MUST be learned. Even if she has her regional gymnastics competition this coming weekend, I am not changing my mind. Am I the asshole here?

@MrEncouragement @TinashePeter_ @DPGBehler There is nothing better, or more exciting, than reading the Bible in chronological order. It gives you a better understanding of passages when you see how it all fits together. The Bible is much more than a reference-it’s the living, breathing word of God.

I don’t have Christ is King in my bio, but I’ve never read my Bible cover to cover. It’s not a badge of honor to do that. The Bible isn’t arranged to be read cover to cover. It’s not meant to be read cover to cover. Did you know that? It’s a reference library. Do you think it necessary to read the reference section of the library in the order it’s organized? Or does it make more sense to read what you need, in the order you need it? I’ve been reading the Bible for 50 years: on my own, with family, in church, in Sunday school, at camp, in study groups, etc. I’ve never thought it worthwhile to read it only in the order it is arranged.

99.99% of people with "Christ is King" in their bio, Have never read a Bible cover to cover. Not ONCE!

@farmingandJesus @autocorrect2_0 Oh Lizzie, I am so sorry. I know God has a plan for you that will be fruitful in ways you’ve never imagined. My dearest friend also went through similar road. It is a hard road, but God is so good!

We have decided to stop fostering after a lot of prayer. This has contributed to the extremely hard time I was having. The Lord has made a new chapter abundantly clear and children will not be in it. Our ten year span of baby loss/infertility/failed adoption story ended with a No. He said no…. The door is closed and will remain closed. It’s over. A lot of the time we hear women praise God for how good he is that they got what they asked for (and they are right to do this!) but we are going to praise God for what he said no to as well, he’s still so good and right, his ways are far above our own folks! My arms will remain empty, no one will call me mother and that’s ok too (no really, it is!) The ending isn’t always the way you think it will be but when we have Christ we are never truly empty handed 💜 Hard to accept at first, and I spiraled a bit, cried a ton, and threw some fits but HE IS GOOD STILL and we have peace/Joy in this decision. He is our everything and there is nothing in this vapor of life that can fill us like Jesus Christ! PRAISE HIM IN ALL THINGS!

Anonymous: My manager just denied my PTO for my son’s Spring Break because she is going on a cruise that week and she “can’t find anyone else to work” because another coworker is also taking off for their child’s break … I gave a months notice and already booked the vacation. My son is very excited to spend time with us during those few days. What’s the next move?

@AMADDDUTD @KeruboSk Don’t most places require approval? I’ve never given notice of a vacation. It’s more like approval. I’ve been denied vacation because someone else already asked for that week. Why book plans before have confirmation that you actually have time off?

One of the reasons I want to leave this site: I can’t have a theological discussion with a fellow Christian without them telling me I’m a demon or saying I don’t know God at all. That’s shameful. Why are we like this?

How long would you expect expensive sheets to last before they start getting holey?

@rachallison1 I’d have to know more. Is there a consistent things or first time? I’d ask questions to get the why of it? Being bullied? Don’t understand? Being negligent? Then go from there.

If your child has a 68 on their report card, how do you handle that? Grounded? Tutoring? No big deal?
