@AvidCommentator Luckily there was never a crisis like this before in human history. The 1970's oil crisis show the world there's nothing to worry about and no lessons to be learnt. 🤨 If only there was a lesson to learn from history. 🤷‍♂️

@RoadknightThe Funny as in "insane" or funny as in "let's pose a ridiculous question on a non-existent issue"? Sure this @news_australian is a parody account as no self-respecting "investigative journalist" would even raise this.

@PalmsugaryGuy @mazzaboz Our luck has run out ages back. The risk - A new party with no experience? The status quo - Sticking with 2 major parties that have stagnated and taken the electorate for granted? It's a tough decision.

@mazzaboz It’s going to be so fun when a party with no experience in Parliament and government suddenly has to implement their ideas. Our luck is running out and we’ve all come up short.

I've been going through the fuel consumption patterns for Australia. This illustrates our problem. Who misses out if diesel supplies run low? It cant be road transport, agriculture and rail freight. That leaves Joe Average and his Ford Ranger, and the mining sector.

@mazzaboz Well, tbh, if that's the case, then they should pull out of piracy patrols. Providing shipping protection from the Somali pirates, didn't drag anyone into the Somalian War/s.

The Iran war will deepen the right between Europe and the US. But it's rather perverse to see Americans criticising the Europeans for focusing on their own continent. Which is what Trump and co have been telling them to do.
Jonathan Schanzer@JSchanzer

The lack of European engagement in the Hormuz crisis is neither new nor specific to Trump. The Euros have basically been bystanders since 10/7. As a herd, they’ve endeavored to stay onside with the Iranian regime and its proxies. Profiles in courage they are not.

@poore56 @mark16pg @QuentinDempster I read, this may have changed, that not only taxed per kilometer but also taxed by type of road you are driving on. Highway, secondary or third rated roads. Via electronic roadbook.

The penny drops: EVs are far cheaper to run per kilometre than petrol/diesel vehicles. 👇This, folks, is the game changer. We won’t have to rely on supply/price manipulative corrupt global cartels. + Public health benefit = no particulate pollution.
Chris Meder@EVCurveFuturist

Driving electric is up to 4× cheaper than petrol. 100 km costs: ⛽Petrol: $22–$33 ⚡EV (home, 6pm): $5.90 ☀️EV (midday solar): $1.20 Same distance. Massive difference. Plus no servicing or oil changes. Around $4k saved every year —a family holiday instead of fuel bills.⚡

@mazzaboz I don't think he should be bailed out but....sitting on your hands while these governments cry out because of lack of supply and price rises, makes this even more funnier. Supplying protection for shipping does NOT mean you are entering a war. History proves this.

The US hasnt just told Europe to focus on Europe, its also raised tarrifs on them, insulted them and mocked their war dead. Not to mention threatened to invade Greenland. And some Americans are outraged that they're not lining up to bail Trump out?

@AntBA013 @OMGTheMess @imbrianmur Agree, however, instead of the world sitting on their hands and complaining that supply is limited and costs are rising, they could, I dunno, maybe send some ships to protect the tankers? It by no means that they have entered the war, historical examples show this.

Are European countries refusing naval service because they fear Muslim backlash? Or because they have degraded military capability? Or because they hate trump?

Australia burns through about 25 billion litres of petrol and diesel every year. Replacing petrol cars with EVs would cut our reliance on expensive imported foreign fuel. But EVs still make up only about 2% of Australia’s 20 million vehicles. More affordable EVs & a strong second-hand EV market can help more Australians afford the switch while strengthening our energy security. theguardian.com/environment/20…

@AvidCommentator There is a way to protect shipping WITHOUT joining the war. Example: The world provided security from the Somali pirates but never joined in on the war in Somalia. I guess it's easier to sit on the proverbial hands and complain supply is stifled and prices are skyrocketing. 🤷‍♂️

@QuentinDempster Both our EVs charge free (our solar paid for itself years ago). We only EVER pay to charge when away from home on a long trip. Last year, that meant we ran 2 EVs for a grad total of $72!!

I often watch the TV show 'Tipping Point'. If you want to see how far education has fallen, watch the under-60s answer questions on geography or history - barely a correct answer ever given. They confuse countries with capitals and vice versa; one even gave an answer of 'Japan' as a country in the southern hemisphere. Tragic.

President Trump says, in one post, that the US has “destroyed 100% of Iran’s military capability” while simultaneously pleading with allies from Europe to the Pacific - and even China - to send warships to help.

🇦🇺🇮🇷 BREAKING: Sydney marches against US Israeli war on Iran. Thousands on Gadigal Country. Traditional land. Modern protest. Australia sends jets. Hosts bases. Follows Washington. The people? Marching against it all. The empire thought they'd stay quiet. Sydney proves otherwise. The war is global. The resistance is global. The silence is breaking everywhere. While government sends weapons, the people send a message: Not in our name. From Sydney to Tehran. The streets are speaking. March against war. March for peace. Australia just joined. Who's next?

@AvidCommentator I find it puzzling that while the entire world showed faux outrage that Iran was/is developing nukes, that it will still sit on their hands. Regardless of who started this, it's become a hypocritical joke between hypocritical "friends".

Now he wants other nations to solve the problem he has created in the Strait of Hormuz. It's going to be telling which governments and navy's more or less ignore this call, particularly those with powerful fleets in East Asia and Australia for that matter.
