@RobertJenrick It's wrong on so many levels. His Visa expires partway through his term, and a student visa limits the amount of part-time work you can do while here. He is not allowed to hold that job.

Dr Manivannan may be a nice young person. But I don’t want to live in a country where people on student visas can become elected representatives to national parliaments. He’s crowdfunding from Green Party members for his graduate visa for pete’s sake. gbnews.com/politics/elect…

@JournoMaddie And there are restrictions on how much work can be done while on a student visa. Surely the whole point of a student visa is that he is meant to be a student here and any work should be part time to subsidise his studying?

This person’s three-year student visa doesn’t last the whole five-year term that an MSP is elected to serve. This is a temporary immigrant resident being elected to make decisions that could have permanent consequences long after that visa has expired. This person is Indian. Only Indian nationals can stand for election in India, and rightly so. How can someone who hasn’t grown up in a country and can’t expect to live there for the rest of their life be expected to understand the issues the country faces and act in the interests of its people? Britain should have the same rule to protect our country from foreign interference. This person might well have good intentions but this system leaves our country open to interference from enemy states like China. Not allowing foreigners to stand for election is just common sense that most countries in the world understand.

Dear Rian... I find it interesting that you share a multitude of your opinions here on twitter... -And then there's this one... If you're bold enough to share this opinion, and your opinion is that others shouldn't have opinions, I'd say no deal. Sorry. Just my opinion.

@SamWitwer It's not that proppe can't have opinions, it's that if you're in certain jobs you shouldn't be overly vocal with them in a way that impacts negativity on the product. It was rule number one in the company I worked in.

@vikare06 The choice to bathe entire scenes in the red and blue of lightsaber glows really annoyed me. At the time I thought it was the physical props actually lighting sets while older ones didn't, but it wasn't like that in Ahsoka so it must have been artistic choice, good vs evil.

0/10 The background is just piles of hard poop arranged randomly. The rest is just a teal sky and sand. No lighting. If there is even a choreography it's impossible to enjoy because of the random cuts. There is no rhythm to the scene at all. Shaky cam with random angles. Very annoying to have just the light from the lightsabers and the dim dusk. There is virtually no design behind this scene, they assumed everybidy would enjoy because the characters involved are familiar. Waste of time, waste of money.

@SirSnipeyy When a show ends with Kenobi saying "we must never speak of these events" and Palpatine telling Vader to stop pursuing one of the last and most powerful Jedi because revenge is not what a Sith should be focusing on, that's basically telling the audience it can be skipped.

@soncharm This is what I always say when people complained about yellow face or lack of diverse casting in 60s Dr Who. What percentage of the population then was "diverse"? Out of those how many were actors? Out of those how many had 30 years acting experience to be a great leading man?

It's funny how people parsed Star Wars as 'white' when to the extent this was visually true it was mostly a downstream effect of Lucas filming at Pinewood Studios in England When starting filming this cheesy space cartoon in 1976 was Lucas supposed to import a bunch of black Americans to be extras & side characters to match American demographics? And what's this about 'elite space'? What's 'elite' about any of it? The initial production was probably seen as a wasteful joke by many. There's also nothing even 'elite' *within-universe* about Star Wars. You wanted more of your race to be the nameless cannon-fodder evil stormtroopers? The yes-men Imperial officers? The dirty pirates/aliens on Tattooine? Which of these are 'elite' and made you feel sad for not being 'represented' in this supposedly 'elite space'? The whole innovation of Star Wars was that it *wasn't* elite - it painted space and this space-stuff as dirty, used-up, lived-in. It's all hindsight from the fact that it ended up making millions, it became 'elite' because it sold toys. 'So white'? Ultimately we're basically talking about 4 human characters (Luke Han Leia Obi-Wan) to divvy up amongst races and satisfy modern racial sensibilities. How many of those 4 were supposed to be black? 1? That would've staved off this critique? And what 'franchise'? It wasn't a 'franchise' initially. It was a crazy expensive Flash Gordon knockoff that few involved probably thought would even succeed, let alone have sequels and become 'a franchise' (which wasn't even really a thing). I like Boyega as an actor but this race-obsessed psychological reaction to a movie like Star Wars is just ridiculous and puerile. He (and anyone who thinks like him) needs to grow up.
Fandom Pulse@fandompulse

John Boyega in a 2025 Apple TV+ documentary on what it felt like to be a Black actor inside the Star Wars universe: "Star Wars always had the vibe of being in the most whitest, elite space. It's a franchise that's so white that a Black person existing in it was something. You can always tell it's something when some Star Wars fans try to say, 'Well, we had Lando Calrissian and had Samuel L.'" Three films as a lead hero and he still felt like a guest. Is Boyega right?

Luke in the George Lucas continuity: happily married, has a kid, leader of the stronger version of the Jedi Order, and loved, feared, and respected through the galaxy. Luke in the Disney continuity: a failure who lives alone on a deserted island after attempting to murder his nephew because of a bad dream. And he ends up ODing on the force because apparently force-based long distance communication can kill you now.

As one senior Labour figure puts it: ‘Starmer isn’t going to resign, because he is consumed utterly by his own entitlement and belief that he alone can do the job. He will have to be dragged out of the building kicking and screaming.’ That quote matters because it says the quiet part out loud. The problem with Starmer was never just polling. It was never just presentation. It was never just “bad comms”. It is the central delusion of the whole project: that a man who spent years telling Britain he was sensible, decent, forensic and uniquely competent cannot psychologically process the possibility that the country has seen through him. He thinks the office belongs to him because he “earned” it. He thinks criticism is ingratitude. He thinks failure is a messaging problem. He thinks betrayal only counts when it happens to him. That is why Labour is now trapped. The party sold itself as a machine of grown-ups, but built the whole thing around one man’s entitlement. And when a leader starts believing he alone can do the job, he is no longer leading a government. He is holding it hostage. This is where we are tonight.

This isn’t just about rejecting Starmer. It isn’t even about Labour and the political class. It’s much bigger. This is the end of a suicidal ‘liberal’ era -in which foreign criminals take precedence over vulnerable women and children. -in which Pakistani rape gangs are given free rein in the poorest areas of the country. -in which hardworking men and women are demonised for loving their country, neighbourhoods and families. -in which the ‘Palestinian’ terror flag reigns supreme. -in which Jews are afraid to walk the streets. It’s the start of something that looks suspiciously like decency. We’re long overdue. @reformparty_uk

Look at this face and eyes. Really look. That's not ambition. That's obsession. That's possession. No sane person watches their party get obliterated and clings tighter. This is what obsession looks like. This is what possession looks like. Two-thirds of his party gone. 65% want him out and he's STILL clawing at the walls of No. 10. There's something sinister behind those eyes that won't let go of power no matter what the country screams. He needs cleansing. And I mean that literally. Keir Starmer needs exorcising. And when they do it, they'll have to cleanse the whole of No. 10. He won't be forced out, he'll have to be exorcised. He won't walk away. He'll cling to the doorframe of No. 10 until the hinges snap. That's not a leader. That's a demon in a suit. And No. 10 needs an exorcism.
