We had a very special visit today from Mobile Farm Cheshire. We are looking at ‘The Little Red Hen’ as our text for literacy and enjoyed seeing some of the animals in real life. We got to stroke and feed them. The children loved it! 🐏☺️ @BarntonMrsF @BarntonMissR

Reception have been learning the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ and have enjoyed a wonderful visit from the mobile farm this morning. We loved spending time with the goats, sheep, chickens and rabbit. We even got to feed the goats! Ask us all about it! 🐏🐐🐓🐇 @BarntonMissR

This afternoon we began our Batik artwork, planning our design and then creating a barrier to resist the dye we will add tomorrow. I can’t wait to see the finished result next week! @BarntonMissR @BarntonMrsF

Football shirt Friday! The children have loved being in football kits or England colours. They’ve been chanting all day and we can’t wait for the final on Sunday! It’s coming home! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⚽️

Today during Art, we have designed and constructed an Ancient Egyptian scarab beetle. We used different tools to create different textures in the clay and apply appropriate patterns. We can’t wait for you to see the finishing products! 🪲🇪🇬@BarntonMissC @BarntonMissR @BarntonMrsF

This week, Reception have been learning about jobs from the past. We discussed a variety of jobs from the past and compared them to the jobs people do today. Are they the same or are they different? We even had a visit from Barnton’s resident chimney sweep! @BarntonMissR

Today in Topic, we learned about Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake day. The children were very eager to learn about this tradition and why it happens every year. 🥞 For snack, we had our own pancakes. We cut them into 4 pieces, and tried different toppings.🤤 @BarntonMrsF

This afternoon, Reception spoke about the Zones of Regulation. We talked about our feelings, what to do when we have these feelings and who to go to if we need help. After discussing, we designed our own Zones of Regulation. 💙❤️💚💛 #childrensmentalhealthweek @BarntonMissR

Reception have been learning about Chinese New Year and Luna New Year. We discussed how people celebrate and the traditions of the festival. We even enjoyed a tasty stir-fry for our afternoon snack! 🍜🐉🐲 @BarntonMissR @BarntonMrsL
