The world, Europe, and Spain have faced this critical moment before. In 2003, a few irresponsible leaders dragged us into an illegal war in the Middle East that brought nothing but insecurity and pain. Our response then must be our response now: NO to violations of international law. NO to the illusion that we can solve the world’s problems with bombs. NO to repeating the mistakes of the past. NO TO WAR. lamoncloa.gob.es/presidente/int…

Israel’s recognition of Somaliland today is not a distant development, but an alarm bell. It is part of a broader strategy to fragment Islamic countries and neutralize key states through encirclement. By doing so, Israel is not only dividing Somalia, a country that is 100% Muslim, and risking an internal war with Sudan-like mass atrocities, but also gaining access to the critically strategic Port of Berbera at the exit of the Red Sea, in the Gulf of Aden. This move effectively encircles Egypt and Saudi Arabia, the two major powers of the Red Sea, as well as Türkiye, which has a highly strategic base in Somalia that is vital for our Africa policy. That such a development is taking place while the genocide in Gaza continues is nothing short of a humiliation for the Islamic world. The failure to foresee and act against this development is an unacceptable negligence. In 2012–2013, when some Western countries attempted to divide Somalia by recognizing Somaliland’s independence, we acted decisively. We brought together Somali Federal President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo in Ankara on April 11–13, 2013, and through a trilateral mechanism and a joint declaration, we blocked this plan. Now is the time to act again. I urgently call on the President and the government to take the following steps: 1.Establish direct contact with the Presidents of Somalia and Somaliland and invite them to Türkiye for face-to-face talks. 2.Appoint a special envoy and dispatch them to the region. The most qualified figure for this role is former Ambassador to Somalia, Kani Torun, who knows all regional actors closely. 3.Urgently consult with the leaders of Egypt and Saudi Arabia and send a joint delegation composed of the three countries’ Foreign Ministers to both sides. 4.Engage with the UAE, which operates the Port of Berbera, to warn and consult on Israel’s destructive, civil-war–provoking policies that could lead to proxy wars in Somalia after Sudan. 5.The leaders of these three countries should simultaneously and in coordination meet with U.S. leader Trump and UK Prime Minister Starmer to prevent any recognition of Somalia’s division. 6.Immediately establish contact with the Northeastern State federal administration, which represents nearly half of Somaliland’s population and has declared its loyalty to Mogadishu by rejecting secession. 7.Before developments escalate irreversibly, engage with Angola (Chair of the African Union) and The Gambia (Chair of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation), Lebanon (Chair of the Arab League) to call for urgent diplomatic action to preserve Somalia’s unity. With every move, Israel is attempting to establish a hegemonic order stretching from the Caspian to Aden, from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Gulf. This development also clearly reveals that the so-called Abraham Accords are, at their core, an imperialist project aimed at further fragmenting the Islamic world and Africa into ever smaller pieces. All countries and leaders who fail to act against this will bear a grave historical responsibility.

On New Year’s eve 2024, when #Ethiopia signed an MoU with #Somaliland that infringed upon the sovereignty and territorial integrity of #Somalia, we (politicians, businesspeople, traditional elders, civil society & islamic scholars) came together and vigorously defended our country, garnering an unprecedented diplomatic support. Sensing inevitable defeat, Addis Ababa backed down. It’s dèjà vu all over. Although #Israel is a far more menacing adversary than Ethiopia, the determination of the Somali people to, once again, coalesce around a just cause and defend their territorial integrity is considerably greater than it was two years ago. We will prevail. We know how to.

How many Somali leaders, after leaving power, can truly say they left behind a legacy - a hospital, a water well, a road, a functioning court system, a capable security force, a stable economy, efficient civil servants, and a society free from the poison of clannism? And when a president steps down, why do almost all of them retreat into self-exile - abroad for safety, or for medical care, for better access to education - while their loyal supporters back home still praise them as heroes? Why?

🚨🇮🇱 I CAN‘T STAND THIS PROPAGANDA ANYMORE. Yes, I’m glad that Israeli hostages have been freed. And just as glad that Palestinian prisoners have been released. But a few things need to be made clear: FIRST: It’s absurd that Israelis are called “hostages” while Palestinians are labeled “prisoners.” That’s propaganda. It’s the same thing: human beings who’ve had their freedom taken away, on both sides. SECOND: The released Israeli hostages appear well-fed, smiling, not a single kilo lost. Clearly treated well under the circumstances. In contrast, the Palestinian prisoners look like they’ve just walked out of a death camp: emaciated, scarred, aged by years of abuse. Tortured. And no one talks about it. THIRD: Everywhere I read: “Hamas killed all the women, only men were released.” That’s simply a lie. A malicious one. The women who were still alive had already been released in earlier exchange deals. But facts don’t matter when it’s time to push the next hate-driven narrative for $7000. FOURTH: Everyone talks about a handful of Israeli hostages, but no one mentions the tens of thousands of Palestinian hostages abducted by Israel. Many of them children. Imprisoned without charges, without trial. FIFTH: And no one talks about the tens of thousands of civilians killed in Israel’s genocide. SIXTH: While the ‘ceasefire’ (it’s just a matter of time until Israel breaks it again) is being celebrated, radical Israeli settlers are still violently stealing land in the West Bank; with full impunity. They break international law daily, and no one seems to care. SEVENTH: Politicians across the world are shamelessly cucking for Israel, offering blind support while refusing to even mention the crimes committed in Gaza, the ongoing apartheid in the West Bank, or the endless aggression toward neighboring countries. EIGHTH: The same governments and media that claim to stand for human rights, international law, and “never again” are now either silent or fully complicit: funding, arming, and excusing an apartheid regime in real time. When Palestinian lives are dehumanized, erased, and bombed into dust, suddenly all those values vanish So no, I will not take part in this propaganda. I will not whitewash Israel’s crimes. And yes, I still stand by my words: A STATE LIKE ISRAEL SHOULD NOT EXIST.

What happens when art meets human rights? In Dhusamareb, with @UN support, Somali artists and students transformed two schools into living canvases — vibrant murals celebrating human rights and cultural heritage now brighten the compounds and inspire dialogue. During her recent visit to Galmudug, @UNTMIS_ Human Rights and Protection Group Chief Kirsten Young encouraged students and communities to continue using public spaces to express creativity and promote human rights.

"Somalia appears to be reaching a tipping point, one that could prod external backers to reassess their commitment to the federal project that is still highly dependent upon its mainly Western backers. The country is fragmented, Al-Shabaab is resurgent, the future of the AU peacekeeping mission is uncertain, and donor patience is waning. Another contested electoral cycle could thrust the country into a downward spiral that reinforces the notion that billions of dollars of external backing have brought little progress."  A good report from @CrisisGroup worth reading. crisisgroup.org/africa/somalia… via @crisisgroup

. @elonmusk the owner of this platform has been just pushing and promoting one thing and one thing only : vicious anti Muslim and anti Arab rhetoric , retweeting any account that is spreading hate and fear against them even if what they are spreading is untrue . He did that before when he promoted Tommy Robinson and known Mossad agent in Britain and he is doing it now . Tweet after tweet , nothing else. You can be the richest man in the world but you are the richest slave in the world. What do they have in you dude? What is the point to have all the money and power and still be a little bitch.
