I condemn in the strongest terms the illegal house arrest of Gen. Mahad Abdirahman Aden (Shubka), Commander of the Custodial Corps. Dismissed over his familial ties to Southwest State President @Laftagareen, he is now being used as leverage—an alarming abuse of power. This echoes a dark chapter in #Somalia’s past, when the barrel of the gun was the law of the land. The Constitution is clear: no one may be deprived of liberty without due process. Gen. Shubka must be released immediately and unconditionally.

Today, my dear friend and senior MP @Odowaa resigned from his position as a Secretary General of the ruling party JSP, citing fundamental disagreements with President @HassanSMohamud on key policy issues, including federalism, elections, constitutional review and civil rights. This comes only days after the Deputy Chairman of the party and President of Southwest State of #Somalia @Laftagareen also resigned. The exodus from the ruling party is the strongest sign that the empire built over the last four years is collapsing, under the weight of its sheer corruption and nepotism.
