Obsession does not fulfill women's urge to hate men or whatever, it's a showcase of how indecisive men will try to take what they think they want, realize they don't want it, be too afraid to do anything about it, and get other people involved while being a coward the entire time

Obsession was extremely popular because it fufills the female notion that every lonely mid guy is secretly a rapist monster and deserves to be miserable and alone. It would have been a nothing movie if the genders were swapped. Conversely if the rapist monster had been 6'3, extremely attractive, and a millionare, it would have also been a wild hit with women.

I think the fact that Bear is such a huge pussy (plus Inde's acting) makes the movie as good as it is. Like it's very clearly a possession movie but the guy's like "well maybe i can keep the posession thing but make her less crazy?" and just drags it out, like that's so funny

Bear hated how Nikki was a free spirit and so kind to everyone. He wanted that all to himself cuz he wanted to feel special, that's why he made that wish. He got exactly what he wanted for being a selfish insecure bitch and couldnt even reciprocate the intense love he asked for.
