Between the Lines (1992-94) RIP Tom Georgeson Who watched this? Think I may have to give this a rewatch as do remember it being really good with an all-round stellar cast.

@IPhillips79 I love how after she'd been attacked by the crocodile, she was found injured but alive in the mud by a plastic surgeon. What a stroke of luck!

Return To Eden (1983 mini-series) Australia's wealthiest woman, Stephanie Harper, is thrown into a crocodile pit by cheating husband...she survives but presumed dead, has plastic surgery, becomes a supermodel & plots revenge on evil husband! 😂Preposterous but CLASSIC TV! 😂❤️

@Knowledgepoint Seem to remember one of @ellygriffiths books was set there too (I was thrilled to discover it was a real place and keep meaning to visit it).

Bleeding Heart Yard: Local myth claims the dismembered body of Lady Elizabeth Hatton was found here with her heart still pumping blood onto the stones. Charles Dickens used the yard as a central setting in his novel Little Dorrit, where it was the home of the Plornish family.

@YesterdaysBrit1 its Sacrilege. Similar thing happened at Margate with their ornate Lido. They close them down due to health and safety or Disrepair. Just bloody repair them then, will bring people in or back to use them ! So much better than an empty concrete bowl or car park !

The glorious bathing pool in Ramsgate. It would sadly close in 1975, with the land being converted into a f'cking car park! Doesn't bear thinking about, does it?!

@BazRees @OrendaBooks @RandomTTours Baz - it really isn’t too graphic, a difficult subject but not gratuitous and it has balance within the storyline with some quite heartwarming moments. I have read all the books in the series, it’s a favourite of mine so I hope that at some time you will feel able to read. Janet

@OrendaBooks @RandomTTours @K_RhodesWriter Yes, a great balance to gently relieve those awful crimes. Kate has a great knack of doing this and indeed keeping even the most heinous crimes from being too graphic, again balance so it’s not too hard to carry on, indeed it becomes compelling. @LissaKEvans In school ‘reading books’ were dished out by the teacher. The rule was 1st hand up got the book. One day there were 3 Shutes, as soon as she said Nev a dozen hands shot up. We were told off ‘cos she hadn’t said what it was yet. She gave the book to someone else. It still hurts.

I'd call this a 'well-crafted story', except that sounds vaguely disparaging - but I couldn't put this novel down; it's about an elderly Englishman trying to get two children out of France during the German invasion; it was published in 1942 and there's not a word wasted.

@tiredsarah1 I've got to put my cards on the table here and say that I'm not a fan of the book, so am unqualified to judge the tone and content of the film. But the poster is truly awful.

The title lettering looks as if it's been painstakingly done with a felt pen, by me, in 1974, during a particularly boring English lesson.

@TheBillaton I always liked him, he stuck to his principles even if it made life uncomfortable for himself. Was really sorry when he suddenly left the series but I guess from the actor’s point of view becoming an award winning director was a better career move!

It is with slightly mixed feelings I can announce that Small Bomb at Dimperley, a book which took me 3 years to write, delicately shaping every clause & simile, agonising over etc etc (insert usual examples of authorial angst here) is NOW AVAILABLE ON KINDLE FOR 99p 👍👍

@RadioTimes Unfortunately we don’t have Netflix and none of the cinemas showing it are near me. Would have loved to see it (love the books).
