@trevorplouffe I think you're a little too close to the situation. The league is willingly alienating like 80% of the fan bases out there. This is not good for the longevity of the game.

Call me crazy but when I see deals like this coming through I think the exact opposite. Business is booming, the party isn’t stopping now.

Paul Dolan has some fucking balls to roll into 2026 as the 29th lowest payroll in MLB, with a HOF 3B on a mega-discount.

BREAKING: Left fielder Tyler Soderstrom and the A's are in agreement on a seven-year, $86 million contract extension, the largest guarantee in franchise history, sources tell ESPN. The deal includes an eighth-year club option and has escalators that max it out at $131 million.

I really wanted Willson Contreras. He would have been such a good fit on this roster. Dude mashes and especially kills LHP. Plays plus defense at 1B. Two year contract so no long term commitment. Fits in the payroll.

When dealing in small samples for outfielders, it's always a good idea to check the most impactful plays. You can do this on a player's Baseball Savant fielding page.
For Jake Mangum? The only two "routine" balls he missed this season weren't his fault. He lost almost 2 OAA (1.90 to be precise) from two unlucky balls that hit high off the Green Monster in Fenway.

I think it's fair at best, but definitely not a fleece. I actually like this deal a lot for Tampa and Houston. Seems pretty fair for all three but I'm not sure this deal makes a ton of sense from Pittsburgh's perspective unless they're going to extend Lowe or something.

Everyone's initial reaction to this is it's a fantastic deal for Pittsburgh, but I don't really see it?
Only one year of Lowe, a light hitting 29 year old rookie backup OF, and an interesting high-upside reliever with command issues.
For a decent SP with 6 years of team control.

The Guardians have emerged as a serious candidate for Brendan Donovan - per my previous post a few days ago.
It was muddy - got mixed info - wasn't 100% sure it was Donny - thought maybe it was Jojo
In fact they're another team interested in Donovan, Jojo and others have reported Noot as well - I mentioned Noot a few days ago - I don't see it as much -
Cleveland now stands with teams like Seattle and SF as "perceived" more aggressive in the mix.

The Cardinals and Guardians talks have picked up recently - and it seems to coincide with when the teams and names leaked with Seattle and San Francisco. I'm not sure if the thinking is if that's what it takes maybe we could see and they're calling on Donovan again (they were one of the initial teams to have interest) or if they're calling on someone else - as the Cardinals have multiple players who could fit their needs. Willson, Jojo, Nootbaar, Donovan - but when talks picked up - parallel to the reports that came out late last week and over the weekend - is interesting. The Cardinals assistant GM Rob Cerfolio came from Cleveland - so he could have a wealth of knowledge on their players if talks go deep. As Chaim likes to grab players he's familiar with - I'm sure the same thing can be said for the new Assistant GM. #stlcards
