In order to address the issue raised here we need, more capacity to match or get as close to peak demand. We curtail wind every day, so we need more storage, we’re getting it, and we need more interconnectors to allow the movement of that energy to where it’s needed, we’re getting those too. What we need is to switch off the gas when it’s not needed because it’s bloody expensive.

At Wednesday lunchtime, wind turbines were spinning 24GW of energy, with another 10GW from solar. 11 weeks earlier, on a still January morning, wind and solar combined generated just 2GW. Prices jumped to £477/MWh. This is the problem with the grid Britain is building. 1/5

Tesla Robotaxi Service in 🇩🇪 Germany to be Expanded For several months now, two self-driving Tesla robotaxis have been operating in the municipality of Arzfeld in the Eifel region of Germany, providing free rides to the doctor or for shopping. The project is a collaboration between the municipality of Arzfeld and the engineering company Tesla Automation in Prüm. The project began as a pilot program and has been operating regularly for some time. Due to its success, it is now being expanded. Currently, there is still a safety driver, but as with the robotaxi projects in Austin that has also vehicles without safety driver and the Bay Area, it is only a matter of time before the taxis operate without drivers. Older people, in particular, are using the service and have quickly developed trust in the system. Among the passengers is Gabriele Gänßmantel from Waxweiler. The 70-year-old takes the Tesla taxi about 16 kilometers every week to her physiotherapist in Arzfeld. "It's great that something like this exists. I really enjoy riding in it," says Gänßmantel. The high-tech taxi reminds Gabriele Gänßmantel of the cult series "Knight Rider" from the 1980s, in which David Hasselhoff drove a self-driving car. "The car can't talk like in the series, but it drives and it works. I'm not afraid either," says the woman from the Eifel region. That will change once Grik is available. The SWR media team drove the car from Waxweiler to Arzfeld through snow, rain, hail, and fog. The car arrived safely at its destination without any problems. Currently, there are two such taxis in the Arzfeld municipality. According to the local council, however, demand for the service is high. The mayor of the Arzfeld municipality, Johannes Kuhl (CDU), is counting on even more Tesla taxis for the region in the long term. "While we have already improved bus service in the past, it's not enough yet," says Kuhl. There are many elderly people with limited mobility. "Autonomous driving is one way to improve things. The development is rapid. Autonomous driving is the technology of the future," the CDU politician continued. So far, the semi-autonomous cars are only operating in the municipality of Arzfeld. The district administrator of the Bitburg-Prüm district, Andreas Kruppert (CDU), wants to change that in the future and expand the service to the entire district. Largely unnoticed, a small rural community in Germany, supported by politicians, is expanding the Tesla robotaxi service and demonstrating that it is safe, convenient, cost-effective, and works everywhere. It is high time that this receives attention and imitators throughout Germany and Europe.

So, after a long time of never seeing, hearing, or experiencing anything Tesla abuse related - it happened! 😂 This clown was flashing and gesturing - unless he's related to my ex-wife, I can only think it's my Tesla. 😇 It's more weird than anything - I support Elon, Tesla, and his other companies all the way regardless of idiots like this. Only real thought about it is someone else experiencing similar from them who might be upset. Is this getting more common, or is it just random?

EVs and my Tesla - A Slightly Ranty One I receive a fair amount of criticism, and perhaps some of it is well deserved because sometimes I say stupid things, so I’ll take that feedback on the chin. But I also receive a fair amount of hate because I drive EVs and the hateful do not, and they wished no one else would, too. You’ve probably all experienced an element of that. And if you’ve been passionate about cars all your life as I have been, I don’t hate ICE cars. I’ve pretty much had nearly every iteration: • in-line 4 • Diesel • Flat 4 • V6 • V8 • V12 • Straight Six • Front wheel drive • Rear wheel drive • All wheel drive • 4x4 with low ratio box • Manual’s • Auto’s • Turbocharged • Supercharged • Range Extender • Plug-in Hybrid • Battery electric car • Hot hatches • Coupe • Fast cars • Estate • Saloon • Off-roader • SUV I love cars! I prefer EVs now and I my preferred EV is a Tesla. And because I prefer a Tesla I get a fair dollop of passive aggressive comments from the EV community. People feel compelled to nit pick because ‘Tesla bad’, and I just want to let you know that I welcome all EVs, except hydrogen ones, and I will continue to love my Tesla irrespective of the comments made. And yes, I genuinely love driving my 315 bhp RWD, hi-tech fun machine. I love how it wafts when I want it and I love how I can take it for a spirited drive along the lanes. I love looking back at its shiny red paint when I’ve parked up, and I love how seamlessly brilliant every aspect of the software is. And I love what the future could hold once our painfully slow regulators catch up with current technology and allow my car to drive itself. I hope other manufacturers will offer self-driving tech, too. And yes, I will be subscribing to FSD and giving it some challenges and chronicling it. So the net gain of passive aggressive comments and nit picking has resulted in me telling you how much I love my car. That one is on you 🤓 But, what I will say is this. If you truly love your car, whatever it is, then I’m very happy for you. I genuinely am. And you will not find me nit picking about your choice of brand and model, whatever it is. Because for you, you have chosen wisely according to your own decision making process. And that’s what matters and I’m fine with that. And remember, I spend a lot of time advocating EV’s, finding great deals whatever the manufacturer, plus I’ve done other stuff that I never expected to happen such as appearing in others videos and podcasts. It’s a great adventure and I am very humbled to have made some friends from X in the real world. And I hope to meet more of you. Although I drive a Tesla, we also own an MG, too. It may not be the greatest car to drive, and the software can be a little buggy, but it suits our family needs perfectly. My wife loves it and it’s our workhorse. The Tesla may not represent the epitome of pure driving pleasure, but I genuinely feel it deserves praise for how it drives because it’s that flippin good and it suits me perfectly. And this is all that matters folks. Be happy with your choice and let others be happy with theirs. We’re all one big family here and I genuinely am amazed by the lovely EV community here on X. I love you all - peace out ✌️

The Trump administration is disgusting! Yesterday, ICE raided a home on St. Paul’s East Side. Their target was ChongLy Scott Thao, an elderly Hmong American man. He’s a U.S. citizen with no criminal record. Armed ICE agents broke down the door without presenting a valid warrant, entered with guns drawn, and handcuffed him in front of his 5-year-old grandson, who was left crying and traumatized. This happened in sub-zero conditions, with wind chills near -30°F. Thao was dragged outside wearing only shorts, a blanket, and Crocs and marched through the snow. ICE then drove him around for nearly an hour, questioned and fingerprinted him, confirmed he was a citizen and not the person they were looking for… and dropped him back at home. No apology. No explanation. No accountability. Is this what you voted for?
