@ChiBearsHistory It's a scheme-driven thing. Singletary couldn't play that scheme Urlacher played. Not tall enough or fast enough as a coverage guy. Urlacher lacked the explosive hitting ability at the line that Singletary had for the 46.

I've noticed many Bears fans not understand how dominant Dexter Lawrence has been the last few years.

Dexter Lawrence has two years and $39.5M remaining on his current contract which runs through the 2027 season.
Any Club that trades for Lawrence would be on the hook for $20M in 2026 & $19.5M in 2027.
Would image any trade would be followed by a massive extension with the acquiring Club.

ESPN sources: Giants All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade and he will not be participating in the team’s off-season workout program that opens Tuesday. @_NickWhalen Not sure where you're reading your assessments but the DT class anything but weak. It IS thin, but there are good ones in the first and second rounds, and then pretty much garbage.

I was against trading for Maxx Crosby, but I'm in favor of trading for Dexter Lawrence to Chicago.
DT is a bigger need in Chicago
DT has a weak 2026 NFL Draft class
Chicago could trade for Lawrence, then draft a DE/S in rounds 2/3 and the defense jumps to another tier.

This post will cause a shitstorm for sure. In a very small window, maybe 86-88 I sort of agree. Under Kevin Rooney he was a very bad man. He had the defense & quickness to match his vicious power. He was also very smart an tactical breaking down an opponent. During those years he’d have a fair shot against anyone in history.
