@NFL_Journal
Dedicated to reporting mainstream and esoteric aspects of football. Football is art. I like the numbers and love to count things. But I love the art more.

The cleats worn by Franco Harris in the immaculate reception game still the greatest play in NFL history

@NFL_Journal Was fortunate enough to see Roth play when I attended a Cal-Colorado game in Boulder in 1975

@HelmetAddict an enhanced screenshot ... this is more of a normal screen capture, you can see the redshift ... just artifact from recording.

@pgconb @conace21 Sanders wasn't very smooth, IMO, but when he got ball in hands ... but it's just too telling when for several years they didn't use him in certain times on 3rd downs. Not a huge plus on 3rd downs. When Dal got Warren, that era, ES was taken out ... Warren the better receiver.
English
@conace21 @NFL_Journal Also that Barrys receiving success rate at PFR was 38% w/ 70% catch rate and Emmitts was 41% w/80% catch rate -- fairly similar, slight edge Smith.
Though ~360 DYAR difference.

@pgconb and though unpopular, Munoz for 80s. OL never get enough love ... though 'd still got LT

@NFL_Journal That's an interesting angle. So, (A) I completely agree with the rice vs peers and Reggie vs Bruce.
Though (B), I don't know to what extent I would want to penalize Reggie for Bruce, my all time DE3 when Alworth/Moss/TO etc were born in different decades.
English

need 1930s; 1935-45, 1940s, 1945-55, etc
1970s? OJ
1975-85 Payton
1980s, LT
1985-95 Jerry Rice, etc
Peirce@pgconb
My gut reaction was 1980s Lawrence Taylor. Through sheer luck of when he happened to be born, he gets 9 peak years across the decade.
English

@pgconb yeah, close call, but Rice ... too far ahead of his peers ... with Reggie, Bruce not far behind
English
@NFL_Journal 85-95 Reggie White vs Jerry Rice is truly a battle of titans.
English

fine setup man and eventually closer, threw pretty hard, struck out a lot of guys
