The Rodri answers about Madrid felt inevitable to me. He’s done a couple of post-match interviews with Spanish reporters in the last fortnight, which is quite rare, and it felt to me - and I may be wrong - that he was ready to drop some kind of hint about his future. International breaks are usually good for that. I feel City’s squad doesn’t need much work this summer as it’s very strong, but if Rodri and Bernardo go then it’s a bigger job. Rodri does say he’s happy in the PL for now so it may be that he does the last year of his deal, or even stays, but it’s interesting that he’s still open to the idea of playing for Madrid (he always has been) after the Balon d’Or stuff.

@knai22 @SamLee People just need to stop taking everything so personally- it will be the last big contract (at a competitive club at least) of his career. Of course he is doing his due diligence 🤷‍♂️ You would do the same in your career

Thankfully this wasn’t result-altering but file it under the absolutely maddening decisions City have had since the turn of 2026. Blowing up to give a yellow card when the keeper is out of his box and the goal is open.

Can someone explain how that isn't a red card for Kieran Trippier? He's made no attempt to play the ball and has stopped a likely tap-in to an open net. I'm glad as a neutral because the game would be over, but it doesn't make much sense.

@umirf1 Tottenham are awful; no shock. Chelsea came up against a much stronger opponent and were hard done by on scoreline imo City against a very organised Madrid and one of the best CL performances I’ve seen by Valverde (2nd leg write off after red) 🤷‍♂️ don’t think we need to overthink

Pep lost his head with that selection. It’s the first leg of a CL knockout tie at the Bernabeu. He plays four blokes up top who have no idea how to get the ball to each other, with two immobile midfielders left to stop the one thing Madrid wanted to do - counter

When was the last time a team gunning for the title we as universally disliked for the way they play as Arsenal currently are? Obviously if you win the league you don't care HOW you win it, but everyone from Conte's Chelsea to Ranieri's Leicester seemingly had more buy in from neutrals.

@LukeEdwardsTele Just wrong- they were clearly told/expected Ederson would be staying for 1 more year & Trafford would be bedded in/given the chance to take the #1 spot- then Donarumma became available. Every other top team would have done the same and he will move on in summer with no issues.

An agent has really messed up here. As did the player. They saw the wages on offer not game time.
