@beepo_floof I believe the moment of inertia of the fluted barrel would be higher, and thus would be stiffer. Same principle that makes I beams stiff.

Maybe someone that's smarter with like metal/steel harmonics or barrel knowledge can answer this for me. If you have two barrels in the same caliber that weigh the same, but one is just a standard "round" barrel vs a thicker but fluted barrel. What differences are there exactly?

DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO SUBNAUTICA 2.. > be Subnautica 2 developers > player politely asks why you can’t kill most creatures > level designer snaps back: "This is not a killing game, go play Sons of the Forest if you want violence" > another dev adds that big creatures will stay safe because "the game should feel right" The first Subnautica let you stab leviathans with a knife. Now they want you to peacefully coexist with 50-meter monsters like it’s a underwater yoga class. Why do developers treat their most loyal fans like this? Why can’t they just answer normally without being condescending and aggressive? Loyal players are the ones who supported you for years. If you keep talking down to them, they’ll simply stop playing. And in the end, you - the developers - will be the ones who lose the most. Peak "go touch grass" energy in 2026. You think this approach will help the game long-term or are we watching it slowly die?

@GByzzie @anon16509170 Not how that works. You'd need a complete neural backup of early M16, which you can't have because she uses Lunaisa's brain scan. I don't even think dummies have a neural cloud amyway (if they do its a very basic one), they're just puppets for the mainframe

Real ones remember when Welrod was meant to release in GF: Neural Cloud as "Insidious". Remember what was lost. I do somewhat miss the short hair and jeans look for Leva as well.

1950s/early 60s typical fighter jet design:
- mach 2+ capable
- subsonic on deck
- landing speed is a significant fraction of mach, probably
- runway requirement: interstate highway in the midwest without any turns in 200km
- frontal visibility: none (its a massive pile of stacked navigation and night targeting systems)
- payload: 2x rocket (optionally somewhat guided)
- gun with 12 (twelve) rounds of ammunition
- radar that at 5km will tell you "yep, there are definitely objects, maybe even planes, in the frontal hemisphere"
- turbojet made out of solid tungsten with 150 stages that convert fuel into black smoke (with a small byproduct of thrust)
- first gen ejection seat that shoots you out the side of the plane for no reason, will fail to deploy the parachute below 500 km/h and will snap your neck above 600 km/h
- navigation at night is just your regular instruments but coated in radium
