@wfcollins @revenant_MMXX Nice, I was surprised how universal it seems, somehow the savers, Investors, the spendthrifts, etc. most seem to be doing better AFTER retirement. The ones I see struggling almost always gamble, never paid off their home, or are still competing with a sibling.

Even the best boomers I know all told their millenial kids they'd end up pumping gas if they didn't go to university. When they said they were going to wait a year to figure out what degree would be useful, they were penalized. If they stayed out to start a business, they were penalized. You moved out into university housing or you worked a low wage job and your parents charged you exorbitant rent as a penalty until a more fortunate friend let you move in with them until you got right in your life. Even my parents who I would consider better than most boomers, still did the whole "IF YE DONT GO TO CAWLEGE UR GUNNA HAVE TO PAYE RENT" and also do every chore in the house on top of rent because "You're at home and have all free time working on the computer"
BoiltOwl@nealjclark1

College is expensive because every millenial INSISTED they get to go. The boomers spent a ton so they could go. This was not the case in the boomers day. They understood natural hierarchy and sorted themselves appropriately. Their big sin was liking their children too much.

@Bobbythirdway Yep, time for those Princess Dads to just pull themselves up by their bootstraps, walk uphill both ways to Main Street, firm handshake the Manager and start flipping burgers at a second job while starting a power washing business and night courses on coding.

@exQUIZitely John Rhys-Davies is awesome! (Raiders, Last Crusade, Living Daylights, Gimli in TLOTR, Wing Commander Games, etc.) Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills 90210) was great as the voice actor for Edison Trent in the excellent Freelancer game.

There was a time when computer games were a small niche for nerds - games made by nerds, for nerds. Then, slowly but surely, the industry evolved. Before long, blockbuster games had grown so big and iconic that Hollywood actors were being hired for cutscenes. The cast of Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger (1994) was no joke: ⭐️ Mark Hamill (Star Wars) ⭐️ Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Star Trek) ⭐️ John Rhys-Davies (Indiana Jones, The Lord of the Rings) …along with Tim Curry, Barbara Niven, Tom Wilson, Ginger Lynn, and Jason Bernard. With a production budget of around $5 million, it was by far the most expensive video game ever made at the time. Yet it still turned a healthy profit, generating more than $30 million in revenue. Games were no longer just a niche for nerds. Whether the cutscenes made the game any better or not, that's for you to decide but it was clear that gaming had now reached the highest of levels in the media industry. The estimated development budget for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is around $1.5 billion so far. The total budget for all three Lord of the Rings movies combined was a little under $300 million.

@CaudilloNuclear Boyfriend will be fine if she leaves, making 250k a year puts him in the top 3-4% of Yearly income for an individual. She however, will have to find a new place to live, pay rent (she has been living with him for 6 years!) and will still be in debt 90k.

@Suviyafawn Exactly, boyfriend makes 250k a year, pays the rent, she has been living with him for 6 years, time for her to move back with the parents and start a side hustle like clown show Dave is always touting. The boyfriend will be fine, notice he was not the one worried or complaining.

@RealPaulElam She does not want to “dump” him, the boyfriend pays all the rent, she has lived with him for 6 years! Time for her to start that ol’ power washing side hustle clown show Dave is always touting as she takes night courses on how to code while moving back home with her parents.

@DiggingInTheDi1 Classic out of touch Boomer advice, Save the Princess or you’re not a real man. He is inadvertently doing the guy a solid by getting her to leave him. Win/Win, she moves on trying to marry a Doctor, he gets to stay happy.

@FluentInFinance Surely they just need to invest in more tech for their appliances, an AI assist for choosing temp and cycle, mandatory wi-fi connection, monthly subscription to use and video screen for commercials to play when standing near it. Must have sensors and microphone as well..

JUST IN: Whirlpool’s CFO said appliance demand hasn’t been this low since the 2008 financial crisis. Washing machines and refrigerators are leading economic indicators. I call it the Cardboard Box Indicator. When the economy booms, people buy appliances. Those items ship in cardboard boxes. When people stop buying appliances, factories stop buying cardboard. Shipping slows down. Jobs get cut. Pay attention.

@NostalgiaPro Men used to sit for hours in a room dedicated to their gigantic model train set. Go to the bar or pool hall every day after work along with smoking two packs a day. Go down to the Elk or Moose Lodge or Bowl with their Team every chance they could to get away from their wife.

People who post stuff like this have clearly never stepped foot inside a military barracks. I played more video games on active duty in the Navy than at any other point in my life. We ran Halo tournaments down in the laundry room on the OG Xbox. I threw Guitar Hero parties in my barracks room on my PS2. I played an absolute ton of Halo while stationed on the USS George H.W. Bush. There is a weird obsession on this app with constantly attacking guys who play video games. Worrying about what another grown man does to unwind is pathetic.

@exQUIZitely Looked absolutely unreal at the time, but never think of it nor reference it in any way about a year after it debuted, do still think about games made before it like Bards Tale, Wasteland or Elite for example.

Who here is old enough to remember when Myst (1993) blew everyone away? It was a straight-up revolution! Well, that's how it felt like at the time. Developed by brothers Rand & Robyn Miller (Cyan), Myst had over 2,500 photorealistic pre-rendered images, 40 minutes of original ambient music, and 66 minutes of video on a single CD-ROM. Many say it helped kickstart the CD-ROM era (1993 was still heavily dominated by 3.5" disks), which was an expensive hardware luxury back then. It looked and sounded like nothing else. There was no combat. No death. And also no hand-holding. Just you, a mysterious island, books, levers, codes, and puzzles in beautifil, lonely worlds - you had to figure it out, the gameplay was open and non-linear. It felt like stepping into a painting, and you could argue it was one of the first games with true immersion (again, for its time - remember this was 1993). It sold over 6 million copies, and stayed the best-selling PC game for 9 (!) years until The Sims in 2002. It created a whole new audience and changed what people expected from PC gaming forever, the bar was raised to a whole new level. For the first time a game also had real appeal to the non-hardcore gamers. It pulled in more female players than any other game before. For its time it was pure magic.

@Polymarket Just need to make the appliances have mandatory internet connection and a monthly subscription to operate, extra plus if they have a video display that shows commercials while you sort or fold laundry.

@educator4ever36 AI coupled with Tech like VR and Remote Education makes it a moot point. Any Profession that involves a lot of people sitting, writing or listening will likely to be replaced in the near future by AI that will work 24/7.

It’s sad that in 2026 we still pay all teachers on the same pay scale regardless of class composition or effectiveness of the teacher, with a few rare exceptions. In almost every industry, the best performers earn more. We need to figure this out for teachers.

MicroProse had a legendary run: 30 years from 1982 to 2002. And yes, I am aware they "lived on" via being bought by other companies, and "revived" now. But I consider their heart and soul to be those initial 30 years. Looking back, what was the very first MicroProse game you played? And from the chronological list below, which one is your all time favorite? Hellcat Ace (1982) Floyd of the Jungle (1982) Chopper Rescue (1982) Spitfire Ace (1982) NATO Commander (1983) MiG Alley Ace (1983) Solo Flight (1983) F-15 Strike Eagle (1984/85) Crusade in Europe (1985) Decision in the Desert (1985) Kennedy Approach (1985) Acrojet (1985) Silent Service (1985) Gunship (1986) Conflict in Vietnam (1986) Pirates! (1987) Airborne Ranger (1987) Project Stealth Fighter (1987) F-19 Stealth Fighter (1988) Red Storm Rising (1988) MicroProse Soccer (1988) M1 Tank Platoon (1989) Sword of the Samurai (1989) Midwinter (1989) Rick Dangerous (1989) Railroad Tycoon (1990) Silent Service II (1990) Knights of the Sky (1990) Covert Action (1990) F-15 Strike Eagle II (1989/90) Civilization (1991) Gunship 2000 (1991) F-117A Nighthawk 2.0 (1991) Darklands (1992) Task Force 1942 (1992) Master of Orion (1993) UFO: Enemy Unknown (1994) Master of Magic (1994) Transport Tycoon (1994) Colonization (1994) Civilization II (1996) Grand Prix 2 (1996) Master of Orion II (1996) The Gathering (1997) X-COM: Apocalypse (1997) Falcon 4.0 (1998) MechCommander (1998) MechWarrior 3 (1999) Civilization II: Test of Time (1999) RollerCoaster Tycoon (1999) Grand Prix 3 (2000) Grand Prix 4 (2002)

@DaddyAustin31 Depends on if they are mule deer or white tail deer. Mule deer and horses jump a pretty similar height. White Tail Deer jump around twice as high as a horse. Also depends how badly they want to get over a fence, they can clear 6-8 feet easy.
