@CarlBovisNature Yes, I saw my first wild Barn Owl just a few weeks ago. I was driving along a road near Leyburn, North Yorkshire at sundown and it burst out of a tree toward an open field. (I had some difficulty persuading my Merlin app to believe me.)

@RachelNeedsANap I don't know if there's such thing as "unlearning" but I think you can build new connections. Like, there's still an old road but you can set up new experiences, and create a new path that gets more worn and familiar. I think it's possible to practice mistakes in a safe way.

@SecondNatureMB This is wonderful! Back in the 90s, I read an Adbusters article about how by the age of 5, children can identify more brand logos than plants. I made it a point to learn the names of as many plants as I could (before Google) and I still greet them like familiar neighbours.

@NotMatForsman I would probably use a different analogy, because Christians tend to be the ones doing the appropriating and recontextualizing, historically. Plenty of other similar situations come to mind when you look for "nothing about us without us" though.

@TJHogglestock @artcrimeprof Right? I had a similar experience in Belgium. The only vegetarian dish turned out to cobbled together from a bag of chopped mixed veg from the frozen food aisle, still slightly frozen in the middle. I took it quite personally.
