@BradenTClark Also, with pro baseball being relatively new in the area, they likely all won’t be this close geographically. It’s advantageous to have a AAA team like the Bees since players are transferred between AAA and MLB all the time, other than that it will be scattered. Boise is good tho

@BradenTClark Like I said, number of teams is 6 at minimum, sometimes more depending on the organization. Also you don’t really create new teams. Minor league baseball attendance is rough and trying to create fans out of thin air makes it harder. You have to take over existing ones

AI being booed in commencement addresses seems pretty natural to me. It's really, really unusual for the people building and selling a new technology to promise that it will destroy people's livelihoods. Whether you consider this to be "horrendous marketing," or "actually, a craven justification for VC investment" or "really, just honest communication" or "rationally over-emphasizing the probability of a long-tail catatrophic outcome" or whatever else, the point is ... it's very unusual. I think today's 22yos should probably familiarize themselves with Claude and ChatGPT, but I don't entirely blame them for booing a technology whose architects have said, this will destroy your jobs.

My take on Lewis: - Never had the greatest plate approach or mechanics. Overcame it with quickness and raw strength, which injuries have diminished - Some level of bad luck (.215 BABIP) - EXTREMELY in his own head and can’t escape

@BenJones_5 @MVPrielipp 2021 doesn’t count, I’m sure of that. Something about the last sentence you highlighted isn’t quite clear because I’ve seen guys with similar situations to his 2022 not have it counted. I saw a description elsewhere that said 60 active + 30 IL counts same as 90 active.

Sure this is mostly due to him being signed at 19 and his injury troubles, but in the year of his last option, not even having a legitimate chance of making the team out of camp because there are at least 3 LHH cOFers ahead of him is just malpractice

This could also be moot if the option rules get changed in the new CBA, which I’m positive they will somehow

@MVPrielipp If he’d been healthy for the last two months last year instead of just the last three weeks, maybe he’d have a fair shot of winning a spot, but even then he’s likely going down for two weeks or whatever for the extra year of service time.

@CougarStats Historically, success rate has a direct correlation to productivity and wins, which is why it's still good to improve. But there's nothing in football that will lead to a win 100% of the time. Low success rate just leaves less room for mistakes, which Bear did good at avoiding

@CougarStats Like all data, it's a piece of the puzzle and not the entire solution. BYU absolutely needs to have a higher success rate on offense (especially without Martin), but it's mitigated with the successful plays largely being big, chunk gains. Plus the turnover margin you mentioned

BYU scored on 6 of their 9 non-garbage possessions. They had a pass efficiency of 155 and a serviceable 4.4 yds/run on non-sacks. Then there's the whole thing about the +4 turnover margin. At some point, you have to really question just how comprehensive a "success rate", as presently defined, really is.
