My views on Covid, restrictions, masks, testing and the role governments play has changed wildly in the past 2 years. Has anyone not changed their positions on most Covid related things since Jan 20? I was pro lockdown, pro mask, pro governments stepping in, etc. Now I'm not.

it’s hard for me to be personally okay with people masking “sometimes”, because i’m part of the restaurant staff they’re exposing to possible infection when they decide it’s okay to sit down and unmask indoors to eat and it’s “fine” because they masked at the doctor-

I was threatened with losing my medical license for prescribing an FDA-approved medication. Let that sink in. No medical board has the authority to dictate lawful treatment decisions between a doctor and patient. That’s not medicine. That’s a usurpation of power.

@taipan168 I agree that the office deserves respect. To the rest, I think albo is by far the best you've got there. Which is embarrassing I agree. But the liberal party is horrible. Makes albo palatable in comparison. Which, again, is quite the feat.

I would not vote ALP and I think that Albo is a weak leader who looks to the politics above everything else, including principles, and is far too timid given the 94 seats the ALP holds. However, maybe I'm old school, but I strongly believe that the office deserves respect.
Tim Wilson@TimWilsonMP

Not withstanding our different political views, I believe the office of the Prime Minister deserved respect today; and the absence of it is an issue for all of us.

Heard this from multiple people I know in Europe: Bringing Trump back (after Jan 6, etc) broke their faith in the American electorate. And they can't allow long-term trust (and alliances, etc) if voters in, say, Wisconsin might go insane every other election.
Tom Nichols@RadioFreeTom

We could argue that Trump 1 was a one-off, a freak occurrence. But electing him *twice*? Raises reasonable questions about what kind of electorate would do that.

@cyberch8se This pathetic whining over masks is really so 2022. By 2026 every sensible person realized that masking was a fairly useless thing and Covid isn't a concern anymore.

Take it from us who have watched you all abandon masking and consumerize your way through this pandemic. Govs have already decided its easier to just let you die. You have already given them the consent for it, anyway.

@brianbobc @DotCosmo @EvHanson2 It's like saying the Earth is flat, then being called on it, and claiming the other person has to prove it's round. You're arguing utter nonsense that only fringe nutjobs believe.

Hi Chris, I’d like to introduce you a segment of the population who DON’T have a robust immune system because of cancer treatments or treatments for autoimmune illnesses. They are all around you.
Chris Martz@ChrisMartzWX

@TomjSmith2 I am not sick and haven’t had a cold all winter. No mask. We have immune systems. Use it.

@AnneliseSudoku @EvHanson2 Exactly right. The more people with no recent infections the more 'tinder' there is in the population.

@EvHanson2 I am one with an autoimmune issue, and I don't mind people around me using their excellent immune system to ward of infections. Bc when they get sick, they are home in bed. And when they recover, they have stronger immunity against reinfection than people who need to keep jabbing

@DotCosmo @EvHanson2 People do live their lives taking into account the health of others all the time. There are controls on the amount of lead in petrol, driving protocols, food quality, pollution, noise, and many other things. We build in some adjustments for disability. It's called society.

@ChrisWalmsley5 @DotCosmo @EvHanson2 Mask all you want. Just stop suggesting anyone else should. We've seen the data. We know they do nothing at the population level. So you protect you and leave us alone.

@EvHanson2 Thankfully, if you believe masks work you can wear one and it'll apparently work. You don't need to tell anyone else.

@stkirsch @DrNeilStone Because arguing with someone as slimy as you is a waste of time. You're truly one of the most pathetic individuals on this app. People like myself and Neil have sympathy for you. Living life as a grifter is something you'll never forgive yourself for as you grow older.

I challenge @DrNeilStone to a live 30-minute debate on the COVID vaccine. Claude will judge the debate. I claim it is more likely that the COVID vaccines had <20% reduction in population COVID mortality in the US, not anywhere close to the >80% claimed by experts. Loser pays the winner a mutually agreeable amount. So this is an easy way for Dr. Stone to prove me wrong and make a lot of money in 30 minutes. Will he do it? Nah! He isn't willing to risk HIS money on HIS beliefs. But he's willing to risk YOUR life on his beliefs.

It’s long COVID awareness day, and we want an end to the pandemic. This will require: - state funded massive infrastructure upgrades to ensure clean air in every single public space beginning with healthcare settings, schools, and prisons, but also bars, shops, restaurants, etc.

deeply annoying to me that it's not legal to drive a golf cart on city roads for local trips to the grocery store etc golf carts are way more pro-social than cars; easy to stop and chat to neighbors, interact with other drivers, etc i'm a golf cart maximalist
