Between Polis granting clemency to Tina Peters, Hochul opting into Trump's voucher scheme, and Spanberger vetoing collective bargaining legislation, it's been a disappointing week for Democrat governors. But very indicative of what needs to be fixed in the party as a whole.

Only 2 states’ car fees actually cover their road costs. The other 48 require heavy subsidies. Last year, the feds spent $30B more on highways than the gas tax generated. Drivers aren’t “paying for transit riders” when they can’t even pay for roads. Talk about that.

The Voting Rights Act was built on an assumption by its authors (primarily Abe Fortas and Nicholas Katzenbach) that the South would only act in racist ways if allowed to and so had to be stopped from doing so at all times forever, and holy shit was that assumption dead on. -OS

Today I went to the New York State Capitol to see the Million Dollar Staircase where Albany Democrats have spent $72 MILLION to repair just 72 stairs. This is what one-party rule looks like. No accountability. No oversight. Just taxpayer money being burned while New Yorkers struggle to afford everyday life. And where is State Comptroller @TomDiNapoli? The one person whose job is to be the watchdog over state spending has been completely silent. New Yorkers deserve a Comptroller who actually audits waste, calls it out, and stops it, not one who looks the other way while millions disappear into projects like this.
