What a weird and incoherent attack. DC already has a regulatory body to control utility costs — the Public Service Commission. No new laws are needed, just proper oversight. Instead of doing his oversight job as Chair, McDuffie let them approve huge rate hikes on DC families.

You’ve got a candidate in the race who points the finger when it comes to utility costs, but hasn’t even attempted to PASS a SINGLE piece of standalone legislation to deal with the problem. You’ve got a candidate running to be Mayor who has made lofty campaign promises but hasn’t delivered for their OWN Ward. We are focused on the wrong 1%. Trans people aren't taking away our healthcare. Muslims aren't defunding our schools. Immigrants aren't cutting taxes for themselves and their rich friends. It’s the billionaires and their puppet politicians. The culture wars are a smokescreen. They want us looking left and right at our neighbors instead of looking up at them. The biggest divide in our politics is not left versus right, it’s top versus bottom.

DCPS will open on a 2-hour delay for Monday, February 2. Students should report to school two hours later than the normal start time. All before-care and morning programs are cancelled. Breakfast will be available for students upon arrival. Please travel safely.

A local Christmas miracle: thanks to an oral amendment by @Janeese4DC and @BrianneKNadeau five hours into a budget hearing in July, DC is reversing $21 million in cuts to health care for low-income families. Thank you to everyone who advocated to protect the DC Alliance program.

NEWS: D.C.'s CFO comes bearing gifts today. He's told the D.C. Council that there's $51 million in additional money from the last fiscal year (which ended Sept. 30), and that it will be used to pay for programs and items on the council's contingency list.
