@Insane_Econ This makes zero sense to me. Kant has a very rigorous style, but the content of his philosophy is if anything uniquely holistic.

What's the point of living forever if you can never go outside in the middle of the day without a UV umbrella? No hiking in beautiful places, no climbing mountains, no beach walks or swimming in the ocean after 8am, no surfing, no playing with your kids in the sun in the backyard... No exploring. No adventures. None of the things that make life worth living. No thanks. Mid-day light also is essential for proper circadian biology. Wearing sunglasses like this during the day is not healthy for humans. No need to overdo it, and fine to be in the shade if needed under a tree, but never going outside without fearing the star that allows our planet to flourish is lunacy.

Bryan Johnson reveals why he uses an umbrella even when it’s not raining and UV levels are low “90% of physical skin aging is from the sun, so this is a UV umbrella protecting me”

This is only a controversial take because a few words ("some" and "of") are missing. A vanishingly small number of people have read all of Homer, Shakespeare, and the Bible, and anyone attempting to do so would encounter the law of diminishing returns quite quickly.
Joshua D Phillips@JoshPhillipsPhD

If you’ve been educated in the West, you should have read and have a basic understanding of Homer, The Bible, and Shakespeare. I don’t know why this is controversial 🙄

Can someone redpill me on “supplementing with progesterone during the luteal phase”? Doctors useless.
kenny@kennyhealth444

girl to girl: if you cannot lose weight around your stomach no matter what, despite eating very few calories per day, this is what i’d do - stop under-eating immediately. prioritize 100g of protein intake a day ideally from whole animal foods. nourishment over fat loss until you establish a baseline of safety. - eat any carbs LAST at meals. opt for rice and potatoes over grains. - take at least 300mg of berberine with every meal - zero alcohol for 30 days - eat within an hour of waking and walk after every meal - resistance training 3x per week, no high-intensity cardio. building muscle will be the highest ROI thing you can do. - 2g of myo-inositol and 400mg of magnesium glycinate per day for insulin control - phosphatidylserine 400mg for lowering excess cortisol - 8 hours of sleep per night as a non-negotiable, ensure your room completely dark at night. glycine and l-theanine for sleep. - supplement with progesterone during the luteal phase - prioritize liver detoxifying foods: pomegranate, bitter greens, berries, green tea - one complete bowel movement every day to prioritize estrogen clearance (raw carrots is my fave) - aim for 1g of vitamin c per day - zinc and selenium for thyroid health (oystermaxxing) - sunlight every day - gather in community and laugh as much as possible the key to addressing belly fat is signaling calm to the body and restoring routine and building physical strength. we’re lowering cortisol, sensitizing to insulin, supporting the gut and thyroid, balancing hormones and improving energy levels. these suggestions are straightforward and provide a foundation to look further into the root cause.

@gregorykennedy @AnnaLeptikon haha. Well you see, statistics is a way of analyzing things that happen in the world. So we don't have to decide whether a question is about statistics or about events in the world. It's like saying that understanding a terrain is "not about maps, but about mountains." See?

Not sure if it has anything to do with stats. The world's best athletes don't want to compete at these games. And their abilities are so far beyond anything that an average person can fathom. The wild card is that we know some people respond more to the drugs than others. Testing in the Netherlands found that about 30% of the participants had no performance increase at all.

@lmkifiwin How good is the control in your juiced vs clean experiment? You know an experiment is only as good as the control, right?

DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT JUST HAPPENED AT THE ENHANCED GAMES.. Peter Thiel and Donald Trump Jr. spent millions to create a steroid Olympics. They promised to "redefine human limits" and put up $25M in prize money. After 5 hours in Las Vegas, here’s the scoreboard: - 1 world record (not recognized by anyone) - Thor Björnsson failed his 515kg deadlift (managed only 475kg) - olympic sprinter Fred Kerley missed the 100m WR by 0.4s - without even taking drugs - the only "record" came from a Greek swimmer who finished 5th at Paris 2024. He wore a supersuit banned since 2009 and beat the clean record by just 0.07s the whole pitch was that drugs would shatter the limits of clean sport. instead they proved the gap between juiced and clean is now 7 hundredths of a second - in a suit banned 17 years ago. the only thing they actually proved was how good the clean athletes already are. You think the Enhanced Games exposed anything or just embarrassed themselves?

JUST IN: The only world record broken at the Enhanced Games will reportedly not be recognized by official authorities.

Avoiding sun is being extremely bearish on the longevity/ biotech thesis Assume we will have peptides for everything. Retroviral DNA upgrades. Nanobot healing glands. Nature wants us dead at 35. Science will have us live to see the stars burn out.

During WW1 and the introduction of the new British army helmet reported injuries went up by something like 5000%. Solve this puzzle. You have all the tools you need. No using search.

@cremieuxrecueil The Enhanced Games will teach us a lot about how clean the Olympics are. If publicly roided up guys break a lot of world records, that will suggest the Olympics aren't that juiced. If they don't ...

@pmarca Why? Could anything be foreign influence? If something were, couldn't we just promptly put it into your list, and then it would appear to be cope as well? I mean, after all, look at the list it's on! Be a fool to think it's really foreign influence when its on *that* list.

What right does the US Govt have to ban its citizens from visiting certain countries or dictating to them that various hotels, stores, malls, etc. are criminally banned? And what's the justification for investigating Hasan and Medea Benjamin but not Nick Shirley's Cuba trip?
Fox News@FoxNews

Federal officials have served subpoenas to Marxist political influencer Hasan Piker and CodePink cofounder Susan Medea Benjamin as part of a wider investigation into whether U.S. organizations and leaders violated U.S. laws and sanctions in supporting Cuba's communist regime, Fox News Digital has learned. foxnews.com/politics/feds-…

@NatPurser You are projecting binary thinking. Proper tradeoff thinking is is more like, "I'm willing to marginally reduce wealth, etc. in exchange for various marginal cultural goods." These are continua, not binaries. Also, "live around non-white people," is an obvious straw man.
