Immune cell therapies like CAR-T have made a huge impact on formerly untreatable liquid tumors and are now making headway into autoimmune disorders (lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc) It's rare to hear researchers say "cure" but amazingly, we're starting to! ❤️‍🩹

James - No sir, there is a near zero chance. The cost synergies, greater use of and capacity for fuel hedges, increased access to capital markets, lower cost of capital, plane resources, parts sourcing, labor structure, gate access, and management talent would have all created a fundamentally different airline. All there would be is a company whose employees were not out of a job, vendors who would be getting paid, and creditors not losing billions. This is a catastrophic failure of excessive state intervention and no spin will change that.

If JetBlue's acquisition of Spirit had been approved, there's a good chance JetBlue would now be headed into bankruptcy, too.

Things That Change After Having a Baby: 1. Sleep becomes the most precious thing in your life, more valuable than money or free time. 2. Your social life shifts completely, late nights out are replaced by early morning wake-up calls. 3. You will become an expert at doing everything with just one hand. 4. Your relationship with your partner will be tested in ways you never expected communication becomes everything. 5. A 10-minute shower will start feeling like the ultimate luxury. 6. You'll suddenly understand your own parents on a completely different level. 7. Your tolerance for noise, mess, and chaos increases by about 1000%. 8. Grocery trips, errands, and simple tasks take twice as long as they used to. 9. The love you feel is unlike anything you've ever experienced,it genuinely rewires your brain.

I heard a thousand times from the nat-pops, "We have to screw Ukraine and Europe in order to confront China and protect Taiwan." It was always a crock. (Plus, Ukraine and Taiwan are linked, as the Taiwanese are keenly aware.)

Elbridge Colby has done catastrophic damage to US projection, leverage, and reputation. His policy managed the impossible: doing everything to abandon Ukraine while completely failing to actually pivot to Asia. A masterclass in destroying US influence

After six months and nearly 1,000 cases, the South Carolina measles outbreak is officially over. How'd they do it? "Measles vaccinations were the most effective single containment tool." abcnews.com/Health/after-1…

Just as history has, for great reasons, been kind to Churchill and not so to Chamberlain, the history will be written on how we responded to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and our stewardship of NATO. Appeasement and moral blindness towards Russia will be ugly chapters.

The ultimate antitrust conundrum is there are two ways to get more banking/airline/etc industry concentration: 1. Let big banks/airlines/etc buy failing ones 2. Don't let big banks/airlines/etc buy failing ones (who then go on to fail)
Billy Binion@billybinion

This is a colossal failure on the part of the Biden admin (and antitrust hawks generally). The government stopped Spirit from merging with JetBlue over concerns about ticket prices. So instead the low-price company will just shut down instead. A total faceplant.

I can understand a plan to treat AI as a "normal" technology and let Nvidia export powerful chips to China. And I can understand a plan to treat AI as an "abnormal" technology that compels the govt to stop private companies from selling their products and services because they're too dangerous. But current AI policy treats AI as both normal and abnormal. We're selling China the compute necessary to build technology that we're also declaring too dangerous to release. And I think that's weird.

This is categorically false. Not merely a stretch, but a straight-up lie. Congress (not Biden alone) appropriated roughly $188 billion total for Ukraine-related support from 2022–2024. NOT $350 billion. Of that, the bulk (~$110–130B in security/military categories) stayed right here in the U.S., paying American defense contractors & replenishing our own stockpiles. Actual direct financial ("cash") support to Ukraine was roughly $31–38B. Those funds were tracked by the World Bank and were audited by firms like KPMG & Deloitte. We were not writing blank checks. It's extremely frustrating to watch this President demonize an ally while downplaying Putin as the aggressor. This administration has ended new U.S. financial/military support for Ukraine (they can buy via the EU if needed). Combined with eased sanctions on Russia and the President's moral ambiguity on the war, it is just a complete betrayal that I will never, ever understand. Polls show that the vast majority of Americans are very much clear eyed about this — we support Ukraine and we sympathize with Ukraine. Our President does not reflect that majority view.

Trump: "Biden gave 350 billion dollars for Ukraine, which was insane. It's one of the reasons why the war went on."

Energy markets are wild — while the Iran War / Strait of Hormuz has spiked oil prices, natural gas prices in West Texas are *negative* (because local production there is so high there isn't enough pipeline to move it)

“Taiwan independence” - 🇨🇳 dirty word describing Taiwanese who doesn’t not want anything to do with CCP. “Taiwan already independent” - 🇹🇼 Ex-President Tsai coined the term, as Taiwanese citizens are already free to live, elect their president, and have their own currency and passport.
