Traditional Draught Bass is still a thing. I enjoyed this pint at The British Oak, Stirchley, Birmingham

@bennymichielsen I have a book illustrated with Ugo Pericoli's costume designs from the film Waterloo which may be rather rare now

Getting ready for tomorrow’s battlefield tour. Pulled everything “Waterloo” off the shelf. Stack is ready… but I’m sure I’m missing something. What’s the one Waterloo book you’d add?

I went in search of the medieval Royal Palace in Kings Langley. There is very little to be seen, but you can peek at a building from the contemporary Priory. The Palace survives in the name of a pleasant pub and - bathetically - a bus stop. #thepastinthepresent

Can a novel open with the ending and then flashback to show how everything led there?

@ElChandler Read it, write it, live by it. However I do feel rather like a Real Ale enthusiast struggling through the 1980s British pub scene...

SpyHards - A Spy Movie Podcast
Of all the Ian Fleming #JamesBond stories, 1963s FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE is often cited as the best translation from book to the big screen… But which do you think is the most faithful Fleming adaptation?

The village of Ivinghoe, Bucks. St Mary's Church is described as 'big and noble' by Pevsner. The red brick building is the Old Brewery House of c. 1800. Name is pronounced 'Ivanhoe' - and from an English excursion nearby, St Walter Scott derived one of his most famous characters.

@ScottMcCreaWest I still say they should remake it, shot for shot and line for line (even including the cassettes). There'll never be a better-scripted Bond film

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) is terrific, but it's one of the films I revisit the least simply because ... George Lazenby simply isn't very good.

#NowWatching On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) Altough not watched by me as much as the other films, it's always a pleasure to view this pure art #JamesBond spetacle. Pure cinematic perfection!

Speaking about #ACruelCorpse at a 'meet the authors' session at Chalfont St Peter Community Library, along with Denise Beddows, Tony Ferguson, Sherry Hostler and (via the picture I am holding) Hannah Snell, the real 18th century female soldier, and model for my Hayden Gray.

Hi! Decisions: I've finished the development edit on the C17th witch trial WIP & now I've got time, I'd like to re-engage with writing communities online, especially #HistoricalFiction folk. Is there any point on X or have most people gone elsewhere?
