The other option is Vance wants to create space between him and a future run because his isolationist wing hates some of the recent policy plays, and he thinks it’s a foregone conclusion that the GOP can’t win next cycle because of it.

The biggest danger of this supposed Iran "deal" it's that it's a green light for rogue regimes (who massacre their own people—that's how this started in January, remember?) to attack uninvolved international commerce until they get what they want.

Trump's approach to Iran is going to match the Democrats' approach to Hamas. First, get rid of all your own leverage in exchange for a future commitment from the enemy. Then whine futilely when the other party doesn't fulfill their commitment, because you have no leverage.
