@ID_AA_Carmack I was thinking about getting to bed in 🇳🇴 time is 23:34, but I guess not 😝
Super exciting! 👏

Exciting announcement for Keen Technologies in a half hour at: youtube.com/channel/UCxxis…
Will be followed by a fireside chat.

@0xCoindude @chrisprucha So to the uninitiated, what, in your view, is the tl;dr of the doomer narrative then, if you were to make a convincing case?
English

@kamstq @chrisprucha Oh in about 10 years tops.🤡 Remind me to check this post then.
English

@PauseAI @chrisprucha @bertverrycken That's interesting. The public according to what poll? Interested in learning what sort of public, the scared and uneducated or the other public with insights and more grounded opinions.
Btw, how relevant would you say the topic of explainable AI is to the safety debate today?
English

@lone_pine_games @chrisprucha @RandolphCarterZ Care to list some of their real points of concern, or point to a good source?
English

@chrisprucha @RandolphCarterZ This is a misreading of the doomer narrative. He doesn't counter any of their real points. "AGI doesn't exist yet" yeah sure, yet. What happens when it does exist?

Bergen Robotics in action: distriktsenergi.no/artikler/2017/… We delivered the drone & sensors, the SW within, and the GCS SW to control & pull data to the ground car & upload it to eSmart. :)

@elonmusk It will slow down bad actors with funding, but won't stop them. Bot swarms of verified accs next, impersonating humans. Can't you see that coming from this decision? Can you say this prediction is wrong already today? If wrong, please let me know what I'm missing.
English

@MacsLore Doesn't have much to do with the Starsiege universe ofc but iirc some of the devs who worked on TN: SFC later went on to work on Starsiege: Tribes. 😎
English

@MacsLore @MacsLore If you're looking for more games to cover, maybe you'll like Terra Nova: SFC, youtube.com/watch?v=aOVkfq….
Released for PC in 1996 by Looking Glass Studios and there's a book set in the same universe which should add more lore (I haven't read it yet) goodreads.com/book/show/1474…

@UndecidedMF Just watched your recent video on solar panel efficiency breakthroughs and thought what I posted here might interest you.

@elonmusk Evening. You want the solar patch (twitter.com/elonmusk/statu…), you should look into Solaris Photonics & the "PROMETHEUS" EU project.
You know you want that 45% to possibly 60% efficiency. \(^ω^\)

Elon Musk@elonmusk
@JoeWBowles @BillGates He’s def wrong. Solar power is a Gigawatt per square km! All you need is a 100 by 100 mile patch in a deserted corner of Arizona, Texas or Utah (or anywhere) to more than power the entire USA. This analysis goes through calcs blogs.ucl.ac.uk/energy/2015/05…

I spent months working on domain-specific search engines and knowledge discovery apps for biomedicine and eventually figured that synthesizing "insights" or building knowledge graphs by machine-reading the academic literature (papers) is *barely useful* :

Another find, 1969 this time: youtu.be/KQxiHel531o?t=… The intro is similar to "Evil Incarnate" from Wolfenstein 3D & Doom II! Got to love little discoveries on YouTube. @romero @ID_AA_Carmack

@AliviaBlount @ak_panda @jeffclune @odias_in_ml There are a couple of public AI themed servers around where one could discuss AIGA, imo. The largest being the "Artificial Int" one listed here discordnetwork.com. Unaware of a server dedicated to AIGA, however.

@BernhoftNor @Graboonie I think there is a decent chance that just taking something written about twenty years ago and going “But what if a BILLION of them?” may turn out exciting.
English

I am conscious of the fact that I am "looking for lost keys by the streetlight" by only seriously considering AGI architectures that are amenable to implementation on clusters of conventional CPU+GPU systems, but I still feel pretty good about that bias. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streetlig…
English

@ID_AA_Carmack Ofc that's just beginning to scratch the surface but it was at the top of my mind lol.
English

@ID_AA_Carmack As an automation/ctrl engineer I'm often thinking of how such a thing could automate (often mundane) tasks at the interface between the real world and stuff going on on my computers. Not only that but how it could empower i.e. disadvantaged people and small business owners.
English

@ID_AA_Carmack It will set a standard of people's expectations from AI from there on that industry and academia may need to adjust to.
English

@ID_AA_Carmack Imo AI has yet to see its "Doom moment". To me that's when an AI-based general problem solver is built that common folks can, and will want to, run on their commodity PCs. The system will be groundbreaking in ability and practicality.
English

@Graboonie @ID_AA_Carmack In general I've found Cognitive architectures interesting and there's no better paper laying them out than 40 Years of Cog Archs: link.springer.com/article/10.100… 22 pages of references. :-) I'm eager to see some of those scaled up in true DNN fashion, if it makes sense to say that.
English

@Graboonie @ID_AA_Carmack Not sure about "to consider" part but you have the systems used in projects like OpenCog, CYC and NARS, to name a few. Schmidhuber's OOPS/Power Play too. See i.e. the Artificial General Intelligence Conference publications, sci-hub.do/10.1007/978-3-….
