Btw, how relevant would you say the topic of explainable AI is to the safety debate today?

Then we're probably fucked, but we'll at least have a bit more time to try to make AI safe and predictable. We should at least try to get all countries on the same page and support AI safety requirements. We've got an AI safety summit coming up & the public wants to slow down

@elonmusk It will slow down bad actors with funding, but won't stop them. Bot swarms of verified accs next, impersonating humans. Can't you see that coming from this decision? Can you say this prediction is wrong already today? If wrong, please let me know what I'm missing.

Starting April 15th, only verified accounts will be eligible to be in For You recommendations. The is the only realistic way to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over. It is otherwise a hopeless losing battle. Voting in polls will require verification for same reason.

I am conscious of the fact that I am "looking for lost keys by the streetlight" by only seriously considering AGI architectures that are amenable to implementation on clusters of conventional CPU+GPU systems, but I still feel pretty good about that bias. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streetlig…

@ID_AA_Carmack Ofc that's just beginning to scratch the surface but it was at the top of my mind lol.

@ID_AA_Carmack As an automation/ctrl engineer I'm often thinking of how such a thing could automate (often mundane) tasks at the interface between the real world and stuff going on on my computers. Not only that but how it could empower i.e. disadvantaged people and small business owners.

@ID_AA_Carmack It will set a standard of people's expectations from AI from there on that industry and academia may need to adjust to.

@ID_AA_Carmack Imo AI has yet to see its "Doom moment". To me that's when an AI-based general problem solver is built that common folks can, and will want to, run on their commodity PCs. The system will be groundbreaking in ability and practicality.

@Graboonie @ID_AA_Carmack In general I've found Cognitive architectures interesting and there's no better paper laying them out than 40 Years of Cog Archs: link.springer.com/article/10.100… 22 pages of references. :-) I'm eager to see some of those scaled up in true DNN fashion, if it makes sense to say that.
