Can someone please explain in simple language why Australia shouldn't ban short term rentals like Airbnb? If we did that, it would free up literally thousands of houses and bring them back into the rental market & discourage investors owning multiple short term rental properties

@DiverRadekH20 @BertDuzza @ramonz_c @cmkusher I imagine there’s not too many low income earners buying and selling shares. Anyway, they’ve got 12 months to get out if they want. Long term effect of these changes? Time will tell I guess. Seems to be generally favourable views from those without vested interests.

The most tax effective investments in Australia for individuals are now family homes and superannuation. The government says young people can’t afford homes and if you put money in Super you can’t touch it until you are in your 60s. So what is a young person actually supposed to invest in?

@ramonz_c @cmkusher A lot of young people can’t get a home loan when they are starting out, which is why they start with Shares and ETFs, but they have now lost that opportunity as well.

@cmkusher Ummm....you can still negatively gear new properties and off-the plan properties.
