Guess you aren't listening to what I said about that. But this isn't about binaries (bit of queer theory lingo, that). We are facing catastrophic destruction of human rights, the US economy, allies, trading partners. They're going after the biosphere itself, preparing to log and mine and loot national forests. Restoring Jim Crow, FFS. Going after women's reproductive rights and stripping away the right to vote from the majority of married women. Loosing thugs onto our streets, workplaces, homes, against our constitutional rights. Attacking medical research, the weather service, and bankrupting farmers. Our food supply, our water, the electrical grid. And you're pretending all this is not an existential threat that we need to join forces to oppose. I want to see the Dem leaders ousted. I want a real opposition, because this is fascism. Wake TF up.

A political party in this country, has smugly, self righteously, and gleefully destroyed the hopes and dreams of every girl athlete in California. This boy entered three events. Took three first places. And the Dems will laugh in your faces about it. They make jokes. They will call you terrible names for standing up for the girls. They will try to destroy your business if you object. They are 100% assured they are doing the right thing and those girls he beat do not matter at all. It’s good if they are cheated. They have no right to fair play they say. They have no right to sports of their own. They pass laws so the girls can’t just walk out and play somewhere else. They have made it illegal. They have changed the laws in their states. They are actively blocking the girls from doing anything about it. They will even punish girls who speak up. We have a political party that passes laws so little girls cannot have a race to see who the best girl athlete is.

@MaxDashu One can use the word "binary" without being a queer theorist. I changed my name 36 years ago. Kept the paper work. Had no problem getting a passport last year. So I don't get the hyperventilating over needing to prove you're an actual citizen to vote.

I know this street. This protest (and I am a 1a absolutist) certainly violates NYC noise ordinances. It is also extremely suspect because in NYC you need a permit for such events and they are not in my experience given for residential streets but rather only for main commercial thoroughfares. One reason is that this is a huge risk if there is a medical emergency in one of the residential homes -- emergency services cannot get in. WHat say you @NYCMayor? How was this protest in a quiet residential (disproportionately Jewish-inhabited?) Brooklyn street, permitted? Isn't that also discriminatory? Redlining is illegal. Managing real estate in any discriminatory way is illegal. where oh where is a NYC lawyer who will represent me on all of Mamdani's violations?

Honestly, I think that’s probably the healthiest approach. ❤️ There’s nothing wrong with exploring ideas, philosophies, religions, meditation, spirituality, psychology, or consciousness questions. The danger starts when exploration hardens into identity, dependency, or unquestionable authority. And yeah… once people start following the same lecturer around for decades, organizing their worldview around one personality, and treating every vague statement as hidden wisdom, it can absolutely drift into cultish territory fast. I also think people underestimate how powerful emotional atmosphere is in those environments - music - group energy - symbolism - belonging - “secret knowledge” - charismatic language - social reinforcement Humans are deeply vulnerable to that stuff psychologically. That doesn’t mean every spiritual space is fake or malicious. It just means humans are humans. Honestly your “dip my feet in and shake them off” line made me laugh because that’s kind of the balance: stay curious without surrendering your ability to think independently 😂
