@latimes Thanks for this reporting! Best article I have read yet on the Walgreens slow-down.

@pgoat @Walgreens Ah, I love Wakulla. I wrote a story set there. Wishing you and your dad the best. Please contact your dad's elected officials about this Walgreens/CVS bottleneck, national story.

@KimforGeorgia Please help my father in your district! Residents of LTC facilities are NOT being vaccinated. As of Friday 1/8, Walgreens had not even scheduled Benton House of Decatur. We can't even get Dekalb appt. now that it is open to 65 up. Please investigate--you can apply pressure.

@KimforGeorgia @KimforGeorgia , PLEASE help my father in your district. Residents of LTC facilities in Dekalb County are NOT being vaccinated. As of Friday, Walgreens had not scheduled Benton House of Decatur. Covid outbreaks, congregate settings--how many more elders will die waiting?

@jillny2000 @Walgreens If you have an elder in a LTC facility that has a Walgreens contract you should take them out and get them the shot elsewhere. WG is months behind and scrambling. Huge national issue. Meanwhile we get bogus Jan. 25 date from WG PR.

The recent announcement providing Pfizer with emergency use authorization for its coronavirus vaccine is a historic milestone and important step toward getting Americans healthy again.

@MarketingGirl22 @Walgreens The delay of Walgreens vaccine admin in LTC facilities in Georgia is a HUGE STORY. My father's care home said Walgreens said MARCH. Covid positives in home may be causing delays. This is the dirty secret no one is discussing. Meanwhile our elders die.

@Walgreens Hey Walgreens, why the delay on getting nursing home residents vaccinated for COVID-19? The vaccine has been out for almost a week now. Nursing home residents are top priority, cases are surging, yet no vaccines. Every hour you delay is costing LIVES! Get it together!!

@RNW623 @Walgreens Walgreens has contracts with many LTC facilities. But they are months behind on getting vaccines to these elders. That Jan. 25 goal is an impossible lie. If you are waiting on them to come to your elder's facility, you'd better take your person and get it done asap elsewhere

@SusannahOWTL Assisted living residents in DeKalb don't even have dates from Walgreens schedulers. February, March? Sure, with Covid positives in nursing homes, they can just wait a few more months.

The vaccine rollout is abysmal - GA is nearly last in the country in getting people vaccinated. DeKalb County announced it was suspending Covid testing so its under-funded public health dept. could concentrate on vaccination.

The Warnock and Ossoff wins are not only a victory over voter suppression and heroic efforts to gotv, but evidence that Georgians recognize that they aren’t being served by Republican politicians.

@K_Rettke Assisted living residents are still without dates for vaccinations in Dekalb County! Walgreens won't get to them until February or March. Why is Dekalb not prioritizing residents of long term care?! Get it done in congregate setting FIRST to stop the deaths.

Reminder that DeKalb County is getting the Moderna vaccine, in part b/c we locally don't have cold storage capacity required to store the Pfizer vaccine. We expect a weekly allocation delivered to county health dept, who then helps distribute it to those based on priority groups.

@DrugStoreNews Walgreens should get its PR people drop their pencils and roll up their sleeves and help with distribution. The PR is incorrect. They can't finish by January 25.

Walgreens is taking a look at a day in the life of two of its pharmacy executives to shine a light on the work taking place behind the scenes to enable access to the COVID-19 vaccine. buff.ly/3awFz9H

@pgoat @Walgreens Is your dad in Dekalb County, GA? This is exactly what is happening to my dad there. Criminal. My fear is these residents will be taken out of the line for vaccines because doses have been "allocated" but not administered.

@Garybham @GovKayIvey Gov of Iowa is taking care of it. Kemp? Not so much. Elderly residents in nursing homes in Atlanta sit around and wait while Covid positives pile up around them. Counties that opted out of Walgreens have already finished vaccinations in LTCFs.

@abby__lehman @marissablock Yet my dad sits and waits at his nursing home in Atlanta for the promised Walgreens vaccines. He may wait until March while Covid cases pile up at his facility. This is a nightmare. I can't believe I actually thought that LTCF residents would get the vaccine first.

@1010WINS Yes, according to their press release. But the truth is MARCH. They are 6 weeks behind in scheduling in long term care facilities in Dekalb County, GA. Elderly residents are still sitting ducks in congregate settings. Get it done!

@faja52 @WSJopinion @ScottGottliebMD For real. They disinfected nursing homes in Georgia, give them the damn Walgreens vaccines so they can finish vaccinations in LTC facilities. My father is still a sitting duck for Covid in his facility. Walgreens is about 6 weeks behind in Dekalb County GA.

@Cat_Ho In Georgia, it could be MARCH before Walgreens finishes LTCFs. They are so behind. Facilities that opted out seem to be in much better shape. In some towns, all facilities are done, in others with Walgreens--nothing happening.

Of the 1,200 skilled nursing facilities in California, between 200-400 have been vaccinated as of yesterday, according to leaders of CA vaccine committee. ~200 thru federal CVS/Walgreens pharmacy program, plus a few hundred in LA County, which opted out of the federal program.

@KaylaGreen04 @News_8 Walgreens is completely overwhelmed and behind in long term care facility vaccination in Dekalb County, Georgia. If something doesn't happen it could be MARCH. Meanwhile, other seniors get vaccinated starting Monday.
