I feel like the most banal and underpriced observation about LLMs is that an algorithm can have superhuman performance in many different ways. It’s a high dimensional space, in which one vector is “burst capacity, 24/7 availability, 20th percentile human performance 95% of time.”

@tomdale @floydophone I had to retire my old "build me a Promise class that satisfies these 4 tests" interview question mostly because JavaScript programmers don't know how to use classes anymore and got tripped up on that part instead of the promise implementation. :(

I don’t remember the details now, but I remember being shocked at how much the react conf talk introducing hooks described certain problems as intrinsic with classes, whereas I felt like they were more a byproduct of specific API design decisions. Conflating the two has led to a generation of developers to write off classes entirely, which is a shame.
