We're implementing the largest expansion of Sammy’s Law in city history: lowering speed limits to 15 MPH at every eligible school by the end of our first term. And we’re not waiting to get started. This year, we’re lowering speed limits at 800 additional locations to 15 MPH, bringing the citywide total for School Slow Zones to nearly 1,300 by the close of 2026. New York City’s streets should be the safest in the world - especially for kids - and City Hall is using every tool at our disposal to make that a reality as quickly as possible.

What @kenyanmcduffie means by "gotcha" is he'll listen to the "That camera near the elementary school keeps getting me, do something" complaints of Chevy Chase drivers. @cuneytdil from @axios:

@john102414 @kenyanmcduffie Did he?

Interesting: In answering a q on Trump/Congress, Lewis George says she recently arranged a meeting alongside labor unions with Va. Rep. Eugene Vindman, who’s voted against DC on several recent bills. She says he felt like he hasn’t heard from DC leaders ahead of these votes.

Freezing property taxes in DC is one of the worst policy ideas I've heard. It's a massive tax cut for people who own properties — including multimillion-dollar houses — paid for by DC residents who do not own homes. It also drains revenue from DC while we're in a fiscal crisis.

A full house here in Ward 7 for a mayoral education forum. The spiciest question, as ever, is on mayoral control: @Janeese4DC says she’s for reforms (like an independent OSSE) while @goodweather4dc says he’d be willing to “give up” control of schools. No clear answer from VO.

Today I'm releasing my plan for ALL DC. Three pillars. One goal: a city that works for every resident in every ward. AFFORDABILITY: Lower housing costs. Bring down utility bills. Expand childcare. Make health care accessible. Address homelessness with dignity. OPPORTUNITY: Invest in our kids. Build career pipelines. Grow and Diversify our Economy. Fully fund Baby Bonds. Support small businesses. Close the racial wealth gap. ACCOUNTABILITY: Stand up to Trump and end MPD cooperation with ICE. Right-size MPD. Fully fund the NEAR Act. Ensure our government delivers. This plan isn't a wish list. Together, we’ve delivered a decade of results: Expansion and preservation of affordable housing. Baby Bonds. The NEAR Act. $100M in small business pandemic relief. Campaign and ethics reform. I grew up in Stronghold. I delivered mail at the US Postal Service. I delivered justice as a prosecutor and at President Obama’s DOJ. I delivered laws and funding to improve the quality of life for residents on the DC Council. I've spent my career delivering for this city, and I'm ready to do it as your next Mayor.
