@lizkimtweets @brigidbergin The 1964 World’s Fair lost money, lots of it. And given the state of the world today it’s questionable if many nations could or would join. Unless this is a poison pill for the DSA mayor, Cats should drop it asap.

John Catsimatidis tells me he proposed that Mayor Mamdani organize a World’s Fair similar to the one in 1964. He said he told the mayor he’d charge him the same price for his ideas as he does Trump—a cup of coffee. Only water was had today though.

I suppose "Republicans for Higher Property Taxes" doesn't sound as snappy as "Fix Tier 6." @NYS_AM

I was part of a remarkable era in NYC politics, filled with all time greats like @musingmuttering.  I'm not looking to pick at old wounds, but this clip captures Doug’s enthusiasm and what made him so good. For the record, I won that wager. What's the interest after 20 years?

@crunchtimejo I guess he didn’t stay at the plate to admire his hit, flip his bat, and start skipping down the baseline…

@AlexSJacquez @NYCMayor It is not a fiscal crisis, historic or otherwise. Cut back on half the budgeted increases and there is more that enough to close the “gap”

🚨 NEW from me: @NYCMayor inherited a historic budget gap from Eric Adams. He has three options to close it: drastically cut vital services New Yorkers rely on, raise property taxes on working families, or ask millionaires to pay a little bit more. Here's what you need to know:

@RonFilipkowski In 1935-36 the US had effectively no military. Didn’t start ramping up until 39-40 and it took a few years to get scale.

Dershowitz says if Trump had been president in 1935-36 instead of FDR the Holocaust wouldn’t have happened because Trump would’ve taken out Hitler and the Nazis.

Dershowitz: Had Trump been in charge in 1936, I think the Holocaust would have been prevented. I think he would have gone after Nazi Germany; he would have destroyed it the way he is destroying Nazi Iran.

@mikegscala Do you know how many tens of billions of dollars this retroactive pension increase would cost?

Public employees, from teachers to first responders, deserve our respect. It's time we look out for them by fixing Tier 6 so they can enjoy the same benefits earned by colleagues hired before them.

The weirdest flex, of course, was Trump’s comparison of his own surprise attack to the attack on Pearl Harbor, which FDR called a “day that will live in infamy.” open.substack.com/pub/charliesyk…
