[ The Overtaxation Death Spiral ] Ken Griffin, time to sell all your New York properties! @ZohranKMamdani, congrats on driving countless affluent people out of NYC. What will happen when the Zohran runs out of $5m+ homes to EXTRA TAX? He will tax everyone with a $2M+ home.... and then he will take everyone with over $4,000 in monthly rent... ... it will not end. This is the overtaxation death spiral!
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

Happy Tax Day, New York. We’re taxing the rich.

Back in my day, I remember when Tesla investors had the best questions. I'm sure we'll still get good information out the earnings call because the executive team tends to talk about what's important even if the springboard questions are low quality. However, it's a missed opportunity.

You should avoid intentionally misleading your followers and community. It's a bad look, and we both know you don't actually believe what you post. Either way, the upgrade from HW2.5 to HW3 cost $1,000 today (down from $1,500) and the majority of that cost is labor. Upgrading HW3 requires a new car computer, wiring harness, and cameras. The cameras are a few dollars a piece and about five minutes of labor ($15 total) as they come right off. The wiring harness is about ~$30-50, and about an hour of labor (~$250 total). The car computer is $2,000 (it contains both the infotainment computer and Autopilot board), plus about two hours of labor (~$2400 total). This is assuming no discount, which has always occurred for official retrofits and would reduce this number significantly. Assuming ZERO discounts, $2675 would be a rough estimate for the total retrofit cost out of pocket. It would be even cheaper for Tesla when considering the actual BOM vs what they charge for parts in the EPC. The cost of a retrofit is not "more than the car" in any context. Even salvaged non-operational Teslas typically sell for more than that amount, because the battery is so valuable. But you knew this.

Bay Area, CA (minutes ago)- Trying to figure out the right hashtags for this one and we just don’t have it. Hate to add one this late in the game, but there’s no choice other than- #BatShitCrazy Not sure what sort of rule based metrics encourage the vehicle to drive out into cross traffic for a T-bone opportunity; luckily there was a police officer there to try to intervene and convince the Waymo to get out of the intersection. The video cuts off a bit early because the person filming obviously was concerned that the Waymo was going to back into them. If we can pick up some more information on this one, we will throw them into the comments. #SunsetProject #NeedIntelligence. #NeedInference #ManilaWeHaveAProblem #FullRetard

This is the sound of the all-electric Tesla Semi. Deliveries of the new Production Version begin this year: • Long Range model has 500 miles of range with a full payload. • 1.7 kWh per mile efficiency (average diesel semis are roughly 5–7 kWh per mile equivalent energy use). • Tri-motor powertrain with 800 kW of power (~1,073 hp), 3x the power of the average diesel semi. • The battery in the Semi is designed to last 1M miles. • Standard Range model (325 mi) has a similar turning radius as a Tesla Model 3/Y. • 0.4 drag coefficient. • Independent truckers are able to buy a Semi for use, not just fleet owners. • Semi fleet uptime is at 95% due to extremely low maintenance and reliability. • Integrated safety features in the Semi protect not just the driver but others on the road as well. • Future wireless charging. • Semi uses the same 4680 battery cells found in the Cybertruck. • Semi can power a whole refrigeration trailer or any powered unit. The technology is shared with Cybertruck Powershare.

They will probably get a HW5 upgrade. Tesla will probably prioritize those who commit to putting it in the taxi network, and to run AI inference for remote requests. All those cars will be able to a LOT of money, making a $2K (I'm guessing) upgrade worth it. The car could make that back in a month.

FSD 14.3 is a magical release indeed. It likely has given Tesla the performance it needs to move forward with unsupervised FSD/Robotaxi without the need for AI5. From the release notes: Rewrote the AI compiler and runtime from the ground up with MLIR, resulting in 20% faster reaction time and improving model iteration speed.
phil beisel@pbeisel

From this post, Elon is suggesting the AI5 chip is targeted for both Optimus and their training cluster (running reinforement learning for FSD/Optimus). This seems to signal that AI4 is sufficient for FSD and the scale out of Robotaxi. We are not waiting on AI5 for Robotaxi.

Early engineering sample, also called “first silicon”, of Tesla's AI5 chip. Likely officially taped out a few weeks earlier. The main AI5 compute die surrounded by HBM memory stacks (to the left and right). This is a Samsung chip: Bottom-right corner: “KR 2613” → “KR” = Korea (South Korea). → “2613” = production week 13 of 2026 (late March 2026).
Elon Musk@elonmusk

Congrats to the @Tesla_AI chip design team on taping out AI5! AI6, Dojo3 & other exciting chips in work.

Tesla Insurance update With the latest version of Safety Score (v3.0), every mile you drive with FSD Supervised enabled will receive a score of 100. This allows you to maintain a higher average safety score over time, resulting in lower monthly insurance premiums. Applies to new policies in Indiana, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Virginia & Illinois

@DaySamual39307 @wholemars People will be scrambling to buy new and used Teslas because of the killer feature, and because it can pay for itself as a robotaxi. What's the demand for a free Tesla? Add to that selling millions of Cybercabs for greater than $10K profit per car. 🚀 $TSLA

Not bearish, but I am concerned. Musk is All In on autonomy, and asleep at the wheel on growth in the sales of Tesla vehicles. Autonomy horizon just extends futher and further into the future. If the market discounts Tesla to the growth of its automotive profits, the stock valuation will crater
