Very interested to gather opinions on what is the safe set of reported data to use for constraining general beyond-LCDM models (i.e. different expansion history, scale-dependent structure growth). What data has (hidden) model dependence?

There are a myriad of theories vying to replace GR, and with our new Hi-COLA code we can simulate structure formation for more of them than ever! arxiv.org/abs/2209.01666 Really glad to have wrapped this paper up just in time for my wedding too 🎉

In the meantime, we’ll be extending the types of Horndeski theories Hi-COLA can handle and applying Hi-COLA to investigate unexplored regions of Horndeski parameter space. /9

@NikoSarcevic During my PhD, I shared a room with a random student at a summer school. As I was getting ready to sleep, he started discussing the ethics of murdering someone in their sleep, his key point being it might be ok if they were completely unaware throughout.

Cosmology Talks is now doing ~monthly mini-workshops. They take - the original talks as a common starting point, - add some invited experts on adjacent topics, - breakout rooms - social stuff and give it 2-3 hours for new ideas to form. (all cosmologists welcome to attend)

For Earth Day, I signed an open letter by @astro4earth supporting action against climate change within the astronomy community: astronomersforplanet.earth/open-letter They also have a Slack -- I particularly like the channel for discussing controversial topics like the role of nuclear energy!
