Congratulations to André Simão for successfully defending his master thesis! 🎉 His work integrated multi-omics data to study how metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease progresses toward hepatocellular carcinoma.

Congratulations to João Matos for successfully defending his master thesis! 🎉 His work reveals how changes in cell signaling and extracellular matrix dynamics promote immune-mediated resistance, offering new avenues for improving triple-negative breast cancer therapies.

Last week, Frederico Água was given an academic distinction and we couldn't be prouder!👏 He completed his master thesis with us and will soon start his PhD with a grant from @fct_pt. It'll focus on the impact of the cell of origin and aberrant transcription in pancreatic cancer.

Big congratulations to Cátia Gonçalves for successfully defending her PhD! 🎓 Her work focuses on understanding the venom systems of octopus and cuttlefish, including possible use in biomedicine. We'd like to thank Pedro Costa @seatoxlab and Odd Karlsen for their collaboration.

Last week, our team member Mariana Luz presented the project for her thesis. After doing her master thesis and working with us as a master fellow, Mariana is now starting her PhD with a grant from @fct_pt, studying imprinting defects in iPSCs.

Our lab had the opportunity to share a little of what #bioinformatics is with the students participating in the Summer University, organized by Núcleo de BCM. Thank you to Rita L, Mafalda S, Frederico A and João M for their work developing our activities for this event.
