Opinion: I think it’s fair to say Ethiopia has never achieved this level of diplomatic success in its history.

@jeffpropulsion I fully agree with you. Yonas comes across as quite condescending and snobbish; he always starts answers to any question 'I wrote a piece on this matter, I said that on an interview with so and so.' And sounds as if he has answers to all problems. In my book, he is an f'n moron.

*Sigh.* There is a new column in Borkena by Yonas Biru but since he writes everything like a condescending, pompous ass, here's a different article about why it's not worth it to read Yonas Biru. zehabesha.com/unveiling-a-st…

So it’s being confirmed that not just those in DebreBirhan but ALL IDP’s who fled Wollega to escape genocide and mass murder at the hands of Oromo Extremist are now being told to return to Wollega in the Oromia region but without protection or assurances of safety once back in what remains of their communities. Back into the jaws of mayhem and death…@indefchristians @USEmbassyAddis @SFRCdems @OrthodoxyNews @IslamicReliefUK

[Update Nov. 23/23] @BalderasAddis: IDPs who survived #AmharaGenocide by Oromia Special Forces & Oromo Liberation Army in Oromia region & escaped to shelters in #DebreBirhan (Amhara region, Ethiopia) were told by Prosperity regime officials to return to where they came from.

Today, in Bensa , Ethiopia 🇪🇹#ArdentCoffee Of course, the Sidama region is another gem when it comes to coffee production in Ethiopia. The area is known for its distinctively flavorful and aromatic coffee, which is often described as having a bright acidity and complex taste notes, including citrus and spice. The Sidama region, like Bensa, practices sustainable farming methods, producing organic coffee that is both environmentally friendly and incredibly satisfying for coffee connoisseurs. Ethiopia truly is a coffee lover's paradise! ☕🌍🌿

Do you know that there is only one commercial pilot and one cabin crew from #Gambella #Ethiopia? During the Derg government we had quite a good number of Gambellans in the Ethiopian Air Force. #Ethiopia needs to move forward! A diverse country like Ethiopia needs equal opportunities and representations for ALL Ethiopians. Every single institution in Ethiopia should thrive for inclusion, diversity, and real equality. @flyethiopian

Few Jews, let alone Ethiopians, likely know that activists were working to insert a revived #Israel into Ethiopia -- or that they wanted their own army backed by the U.S. and British if they managed to pull it off. My latest article on Substack. jeffpropulsion.substack.com/p/the-harar-sc…

@EskedarAB @TiborPNagyJr This is one country, 'sharing of land'? Insane! Ethiopians have the right to go & live anywhere. If IDPs return & referendum says Wolkait is Amhara, you think Tigrayans will accept & vice versa? How about a separate regional state Wolkait-Tsegede that doesn't belong to either?

What kind of compromise?! You can see referendum as a kind of compromise after IDPs have returned & Federal govt take control of the area. Whichever way it spins, there won't be 💯 satisfactory result. Or u're referring to sharing the land & living side-by-side? I don't think the people have any problem doing that...

Ethiopian Govt statement on anniversary of Tigray cease fire of future referendum to determine status of Western Tigray/Welkait makes sense dejure but will be difficult defacto, given incredible emotions tied to region. Should this wait until nation decides its future structure?

@TiborPNagyJr Referendum brings trouble than solution. Who votes? Only natives displaced by TPLF when Wolkait was annexed 2 Tigray? Or include Tigrayans displaced by the war? If Wolkait goes to Tigray, Amhara people will fight. If it goes to Amhara, Tigrayans will fill wronged. No good outcome

Let’s be honest with ourselves: #Amhara is the second largest ethnic group in #Ethiopia, and the majority of them see this as a struggle for survival or existence. They have been targeted and forced out from some parts of the #Oromia region just for being Amhara. They have been targeted in Addis Ababa and the surrounding areas just based on their ethnicity. You can’t fight and win against people who feel this way because they will give it all to the very end. My hope is that the government of #Ethiopia finds a way to sit down with the leaders of the Amhara fighters and just TALK! If we really want a win-win outcome without bloodshed, peaceful dialogue and mutual understanding should be prioritized. Remember, the more pain you inflict upon the people, the more enemies you’ll create and the more pressure you’ll get from the #IC. #Ethiopia had enough of that already. May God bring a lasting peace to the people of #Oromia, #Amhara, and throughout the country.

Fighting intensifies in #Ethiopia's #Amhara region amid blackout Heavy fighting is reported to be continuing between Ethiopian troops and local militias across large parts of the Amhara region. Residents say heavy weaponry is being used. There are also fears that civilians are trapped. The authorities had claimed they'd contained the conflict, but fighters from the #Fano militia group say they've thwarted government attacks and seized towns. Communications blackouts have been imposed, making it difficult to confirm the details of the violence. The Ethiopian government announced a state of emergency in August, when the Fano militia refused to hand over its weapons. Last week, Western countries including Britain and the US called for a ceasefire. Source: BBC Africa

@JekapOmod Fully agree with you 100%, native local names are part of our history, no need to change. This unacceptable.

This nonsense in Gambella regional state MUST STOP! It’s my belief that ALL Ethiopians should have the right to go anywhere and live anywhere in Ethiopia. But, they don’t have the rights to go anywhere and change the names of places, rivers, or anything that the locals already have the names for! Only a colonizer or an invader has the audacity to change names, and enforce their language, culture, traditions, and religion on their colony. I highly condemn the illegal name changing of the places in Gambella. The regional government must stop this nonsense. Nobody has the right to rename any place as they wish. I never saw anyone from Gambella going anywhere in the Oromia, Amhara, Tigray, or any other region in Ethiopia and change the names of the places that are already existing. This is an oppression, which is not different from colonialism. I urge the government of Gambella to change these names back to their original local names as soon as possible: 1. Tierkidi: NOT Wollo Sefer 2. Tierjwieni: NOT Addis Sefer 3. Tietbaale: NOT Gonder Sefer 4. Lou Oloni/ Echway looga/Kumbooni: NOT Ayertena 5. Gog bajomi/ Tietkaak : NOT Metu Mazuria 6. Agulnyaang: NOT Yelebos Sefer 7. Abobobeer/Tuuru odii: NOT Selam Sefer 8. Gamnyikwacgiilo or Omiininga: NOT Bure Sefer 9. Ajala gaala: NOT Gebiya 10. Pwol jay: NOT Shiro meda 11. Owalinga: NOT Care gebiya 12. Achiil : NOT Umtu jirtu 13. Ya chiil: NOT Michael Sefer 14. Wi pwoljay: NOT 8100 15. Wangjwieni: NOT Sellase 16. Wangjwiel: NOT Abwobo mazuria 17. Tiercwaa: NOT Kulubi 18. Cangkwaar: NOT Newland All of these names have meanings and historical significance, and they should never be changed at all.
