This Russia sanctions bill is a one-two punch that's really going to put pressure on Putin. It comes at a time when there's real momentum on behalf of Ukraine. Russia's losing over 30,000 casualties a month in Ukraine. This is a real opportunity to get Putin to the table.

Yesterday, @POTUS claimed he was going to charge a 20% toll on traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, then backtracked. Despite asking Congress for billions to backfill the Iran war, it appears the Pentagon doesn’t know how it will use foreign funds to enforce a military blockade.

Since the President started his war in Iran, families in New Hampshire have had to pay nearly $600 more for gas. And now, with President Trump restarting the war, the burden on families across my state will only get worse.

I am shocked and deeply saddened to learn of my friend Senator Lindsey Graham’s sudden passing. Billy and I are keeping his loved ones, constituents and staff close in thought. My full statement:

The news of Senator Lindsey Graham’s passing saddens me deeply. Lindsey was one of America’s fiercest champions for freedom, democracy, and peace through strength. He carried forward the legacy of Senator John McCain, believing America’s leadership is indispensable and that nations seeking freedom should never stand alone. Lindsey was also a personal mentor. His counsel shaped my work in Congress, and despite his many responsibilities, he always made time to help others. I saw that firsthand when preparing for the 2025 NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Dayton. The summit welcomed more than 2,500 delegates from across the Alliance, and it would not have been possible without Lindsey’s personal intervention and support. That generosity toward fellow members was simply who he was. Just days ago, I had the honor of standing beside Lindsey in Ankara as we met with President Zelenskyy. Until his final days, he was pressing the case for stronger sanctions against Russia. There is no better way to honor his final mission than for the Senate and the White House to swiftly send his bipartisan Russia sanctions legislation to the President’s desk. Lindsey believed America must stand with nations seeking democracy because doing so strengthens our own security. We owe it to his legacy to ensure that commitment remains the foundation of American foreign policy. My prayers are with Lindsey’s family, his staff, the people of South Carolina, and all who knew him. America has lost a great statesman, and I have lost a mentor. Ukraine is the most innovative military in Europe at the moment. They aren't just a user of U.S. weapons, but a key provider of support, as we've seen during the war in Iran. It's in our national security interest to learn from their technological advancement on the battlefield.

This is a war that President Trump never should’ve undertaken. None of the goals that he set out in the beginning have been accomplished. He needs to get back to the negotiating table, but he needs to negotiate a deal that’s going to benefit the United States and not Iran.
