@Sovietico_Puto @notawriternow @MiddleearthMixr I like ASOIAF quite a lot but they cannot compare to Tolkien’s works. They are incredibly well crafted, all of that. But they are mundane. About base things. There is no metaphysical concern. Everything is about hatred, duty, sex, self pity

@notawriternow @MiddleearthMixr Because they created a whole new reality on their heads based on the hatred they feel for the morons that kidnapped asoiaf on social media and made it into something it's not. They're all arguing over a fictionalized version of a book series they only experienced on yt vids

@harrisondubay @NotTheSame_Cord You sound like a fucking loser dude can’t lie. It’s super effective at slowing fires, is superior for sound proofing, single units are worth more than townhomes, no room for shared property disputes over things like a roof. The list goes on. You just have a bug up your ass

@NotTheSame_Cord You are no more sovereign alone in a cardboard box in Sugar Land than a person who has community and whose use of public services is significantly less burdensome on government.

@CjLel @mnolangray Everything you said is nonsense. You can’t maintain a battery, what determines its life is almost purely environmental. Not even gonna bother trying to address whatever the hell you were trying to say

@BjarkinOff @mnolangray OK but with proper maintenance only having to replace a battery, something that almost certainly will get better with time while also being produced, over a time period thst most people would just buy a new car in is significantly better

@MarikoRawralton @mnolangray Lmao you have no idea what you’re talking about. That is not how hybrid technology works. If you replace the battery, the only ones that work are the same type as the originals. It’ll be new not modernized, you just have no idea what you’re talking about

@mnolangray You’re a dumbass. The only way that you are only spending $1500 for the battery replacement is if they use used batteries from junked cars, or if you are lucky refurbished batteries, neither of those are lasting 20 years. You don’t know what you’re talking about

@BjarkinOff Funny how this is the go-to critique of these cars, meanwhile I'm driving a 14 year old Prius, the battery is fine, and when it goes bad, shops in my area will replace it for $1,500 and it'll run for another 20 years.

@Bridgdavidson @mnolangray I have a bmw 740i whose timing chain is supposed to explode after 125,000 miles. It has never gone bad at 245,000 miles. Just because my car is an exception does not mean that my model of car is reliable. It’s so funny when women prove they can’t think beyond personal experience

@upstatefederlst I mean until pilots agree to let the hijackers in because they star executing the passengers and the flight crew they know one by one at the door and the guilt is unbearable. In crisis situations people don’t act rationally

@mintflint656 @midwest_it_girl That must be counting apartments and condos because the cheapest single family home not in the hood that I could find that would qualify for a mortgage was $475,000. And it was 890 sq feet lmao

@legrandmezze @lilbabygandhi She played his mom in a movie when he was 7 years old and she kept in close contact since that age. Bourdain paid the kid off that’s why it never went public at the time and never went into criminal proceedings

These two cases are not comparable. The allegations against Harvey Weinstein involve repeated accusations of coercion, abuse of power, and non-consensual acts, in some instances confirmed by court rulings. In contrast, the case involving Asia Argento concerns a disputed relationship with a 17-year-old, without any criminal conviction and with conflicting accounts. It is also important to use precise terminology. A relationship with a 17-year-old, while potentially illegal depending on the jurisdiction, does not constitute pedophilia in the strict sense. Pedophilia refers to sexual attraction to prepubescent children, which is not the case here.

@the_transit_guy @Deaner_Wiener1 This is always so funny to me because these are being built literally fucking everywhere in PA and NJ. I feel like this complaint is only true in like California and New York whose ultra rich have moved out of the cities and banned all suburban development.

@shaayy64 @prelife_ @WeThrones It’s not just overshadowing though, it’s that the supposed main existential threat has not really increased its threat. I understand there is time left, but you are talking about potential futures, I am talking about what is written and so far they are underdeveloped as a threat

@BjarkinOff @prelife_ @WeThrones Magic being overshadowed gives it importance when it shows up imo. It's like the entire reason that Beric and Melisandre are even interesting upon reveal, or why Euron is the huge threat that he is

Hot take: one of the biggest consequences of GRRM’s “gardener” writing style is that A Song of Ice and Fire slowly stopped being about the Others. The prologue of A Game of Thrones sets them up as the ultimate threat. But the deeper the series went, the less central they became.
Quinn The GM@quinnthegm

Today’s video I’m delving into the Others and why I believe their being underdeveloped (and only appearing twice in the series’ history) is a problem that may be in large part responsible for the well over a decade-long writing process for The Winds of Winter. Video below!

@shaayy64 @prelife_ @WeThrones I guess I would say that it really isn’t hanging over the story. It kind of feels like a footnote. I think that is my main feeling. The threat of the others had not changed. Since they were introduced they have been a nuke in waiting, and no raise in stakes makes it feel flat

@BjarkinOff @prelife_ @WeThrones And while The Others plotline hangs over the head of ASOIAF other established characters need their stories resolved too, the majority of which don't revolve around The Others because theyre a threat only a select few actually even know about.
