@moultano @Boenau Those are prison like conditions there; I was walking nearly a half mile to school by 6 (1st grade), and by 11 I was riding my bike to the card shop 2 miles away and across several major roads! And this wasn't that long ago; I'm 39.
But my parents trusted me to not be an idiot.

It would be interesting to pair this with a survey about what parents' primary fears are. My primary fear is cars. We encourage our kids to walk pretty far, but they're limited by scary roads.

AI is more efficient and nobody can argue any different.
You can replace any web designer and developer, and have 1 person instead overseeing the work AI does, cut your team to a handful of people with the same if not more optimal workflow output as before.
AI efficiency is what will replace people.

Why is Michigan such an unattractive place to move? It's one of the most beautiful states, has one massive metro area and 2-3 booming smaller metros, a diversified economy, extremely affordable housing, a top tier flagship university, etc

Here's a map of the % of people born in their state of residence. Highest in the Midwest and Louisiana, and lowest in the West (with Nevada at the bottom) and Florida.

@2024dion Aside from the rough winters, one thing is that Michigan culture isn't always friendly to outsiders who didn't grow up here. Very family centered which has its good parts, but if you don't belong to a family here it's hard to crack the lineup in social circles.

This Chinese humanoid robot just shattered the world record for a half marathon, finishing in 50 min 26 sec. This video shows its crash just meters before the finish line where it had to be picked up by a team of humans. The robot is from Honor, the smartphone maker and Huawei spin-off. This robot was teleoperated while others were autonomous. It seems like all the robots had battery swaps along the way.
