People's Front for Freedom - PFF
The People’s Front for Freedom strongly condemns the ongoing judicial circus surrounding the case of our leaders, Dr. Kizza Besigye and Hajj Obeid Lutale. In a blatant display of disregard for the rule of law and the rights of the accused, NRM regime prosecutors Richard Birivumbuka and Thomas Jatiko arrived in court two hours late today. Their absence forced the defense team to seek a reprimand and costs for the state's failure to respect the court’s time. Despite their unprofessionalism and in a move that highlights the bias and incompetence we have consistently raised, High Court Judge Emmanuel Baguma accepted a flimsy apology from the prosecution. Instead of holding the state accountable for frustrating the ruling on the concealment of witness identities, the judge once again sided with the state, adjourning the matter to April 24, 2026. The prosecution's tactics are clear: use delay and concealment to persecute rather than prosecute. We remain undeterred in our quest for justice. The struggle for fairness in our courts continues. #FreeKizzaBesigye #FreeHajjiObeid #FreeSamMugumya #FreeSamuelMakokha #FreedomForAll

Comrade! I am of the view that you read the statement and its questions but failed to comprehend. I can tell you that, I have read that constitution from articles 1 to last. Even a person on the level of a GRC can table such matters, the guild president is not a dictator to decide, these matters are tabled before the house for discussion and in which you as the Vice guild have powers over the GRC's. Then the guild president tables them before the university committee and in the absence of the guild president, powers are delegated to the vice president. Don't look at our questions and start saying we have not read or not updated. You just need to be humble because we have been following matters of the 91st guild house. We have seen people like Precious Nkuru working effortlessly, was she the guild president? Stop playing victim politics that you had no say. Just tell us what you did for students when those matters came up. Show us at least one radical letter that you wrote, true leaders are defined by their willingness to help without regard to technicalities ( read article 126 of the constitution of Uganda) I respectively submit 🙏
Kadondi Gracious@kadondigracious

Comrade, you confuse the roles of a Guild President and the roles of a Vice Guild President. It's like confusing Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo for M7. When you speak from an informed point of view, rather propaganda, and with evidence, I will answer your questions. Thank you.

The story of @sabiti_edwin continues to get sweeter. Before he joined @MakerereLaw he promised me to get a CGPA of 4 as I assured him that that’s the best way to get into Harvard. Indeed he got the CGPA, promised me to get a first class at LDC and did it. Then we agreed that he applies to Harvard and I was sure he would be admitted. Finally, I am glad that he was not only admitted but also got TOTAL financial aid. The boy from St. Kaggwa High School is going to @Harvard_Law for his LLM on full scholarship. Congratulations Edwin. You have made me very proud. It’s so good to see those close to you keep winning. AMDG

Congratulations to all those graduating from @MakerereLaw and most especially to Sir @sabiti_edwin. I remember I met this young man at the Great Gate of @Makerere, he recognized me as the then valedictorian and we exchanged contacts. His dream was to do his best to shine but I gave him one simple advice: try your best to get a CGPA of 4, be part of CLE, make great friends, help colleagues and have good rapport with lectures. When his CGPA was falling apart, we would spend hours calculating to meet the target. Am glad that after 4 years of Law School, Edwin is graduating as the third best student from Law School and with a CGPA of 4+. All I can say now is that I am proud of this achievement and I think it’s time u join me for a couple of some Scotch 🥃 To the rest of the graduands, all I can say is that this is not end of ur achievements but rather the beginning of more yet to come. Be humble, kind, humorous, generous and gather enough social capital that adds value to u. The rest will depend on hardwork and discipline. Before I forget, let no one belittle your achievement of an LLB: many yearned for it, many attempted to get it but u are among the few that are graduating. Congratulations. eh Makerere Oyee

I attended the @Makerere Guild Presidential debate from its commencement until its abrupt discontinuation. While there was some reversible disorder typical of any politically charged environment involving multiple parties the characterization by media houses like @DailyMonitor and @ntvuganda that the debate was "suspended" due to "chaos" is an overstatement. Such framing tends to paint student political activities as inherently disorderly and corroborates a narrative that physical campaigns by students are not peaceful. While media coverage is very important and necessary, such portrayal and broadcasting narratives that could trigger further clampdown on students’ rights to engage, associate, and campaign is retrogressive and not pro-student. This is especially concerning at a time when students are working hard to restore full freedoms and lift the ban on physical campaigns.

@MitchellHallMAK @rodneyrugyema @Makerere We (Concerned members of the Makerere Law Society) have formally written to the Electoral Commission Makerere University this afternoon through its formal email (ec@mak.ac.ug) regarding the malafide intent to suffocate the voices of the students .

Mitchell Hall@MitchellHallMAK·
Good afternoon, Dr. @rodneyrugyema @Makerere We address you directly, because following the cancellation of yesterday's Debate, you personally swore to never again allow physical campaigns and engagements at Makerere University. Today's development therefore comes as no surprise. We have since received an E-signed letter issued on a weekend purportedly from the 92nd Electoral Commission. We note, with concern, that the Chairperson's physical signature is absent. We can only conclude that she was either unavailable, unaware, or otherwise engaged in official duties when this directive was dispatched in her name. The University administration is once again using the Electoral Commission as an instrument to suffocate student democracy. Hiding behind Section 10(b) to further ban physical campaigns is a calculated attempt to suppress student voice and engineer electoral outcomes in favour of preferred candidates. Compelling aspirants to campaign exclusively in virtual spaces under threat of automatic disqualification is a direct violation of the fundamental right to free expression and democratic participation. We remind all concerned that the supreme law of this land supersedes any colonial, dictatorial policy crafted to serve sectional interests. This so-called "Final Warning" does not speak for the Students' Guild. It speaks for University oppressors determined to control who leads our Guild. Students of @Makerere do not be intimidated. Your right to campaign, to vote, and to be heard cannot be extinguished by a 2:00 p.m. deadline. We reject this directive in its entirety! RGB @StoneMakerere @nkrumah_hall @UH_HALL

The Administration is now using e-signed documents on behalf of the Guild EC! Compelling aspirants to campaign exclusively in virtual spaces while threatening disqualification is a violation of the fundamental right to free expression as article 29 of the constitution of Uganda stipulates and democratic participation. The University administration is once again using the Electoral Commission as a tool to suffocate student democracy. Hiding behind Section 10(b) to ban physical campaigns is a calculated attempt to suppress student voice and engineer electoral outcomes. There is no way students are supposed to be removing posters even outside the university, it beats no deadman that this was once a greater institution. We respectfully call upon the university to revise this directive and let @Makerere students exercise democratic dynamics.

The guild debate today wasn’t just talk it was a reminder that silence changes nothing. Real leaders aren’t afraid to challenge, question, and shake the room. If we want better, we have to demand it loudly and unapologetically. 🔥 the question is Why. With all the injustice.
