After nearly 4 years, I’m saying goodbye to my time at @DapperLabs and @NFLALLDAY. My last day in office April 27 and I’ve spent the last 2 weeks taking a breath exploring Japan.

I’ve traveled the world with this legend. From baseball box-seats & court-side hoops to the nosebleeds & binoculars, from fine dining & champagne to pub fare & cold beers. One of the best mates a person could have, and I don’t say that lightly. He’s the definition of class. Any company that doesn’t have this guy on the books is significantly worse off, and anyone who’s able to convince him to accept an offer will be up huge. @BlockchainSteve is real deal talent.

After an incredible run, my time at Dapper Labs and NBA Top Shot has come to an end. This wasn't just a job. It was something I poured my heart and soul into, and I'm walking away with friendships and memories I'll carry for life. I'm proud of everything I accomplished, and I'll be supporting the good people on the team from the sidelines. I want to give a special thanks to the Top Shot community. There's nothing like it, and I know I'll see many of you again. What's next for me? I'll take a moment to reflect, explore, and shoot again into something that excites me!

So many counterfeit cards....

Nat Turner@natsturner

Here's an update. In 2025, @PSAcard received 3,285 submissions of the 1986 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan rookie card for grading. Of those, 821 were deemed N4 (the inauthentic no grade code from @PSAcard). That puts the counterfeit rate at 24.99%, which is ~3% higher than 2023 when we last pulled the data. I'm going to pull the data on the 1984 Star #101 Jordan next...

A small beauty that we take for granted in digital collecting – instant liquidity. A collector jumped on the secondary marketplace and grabbed a sealed Freshman Gems Case Topper pack for $625 – the original owner was able to cash out their investment with a nice monetary gain and the buyer took a shot. The Reveal: #1 Freshman Gems Kon Knueppel 💎 There was already a standing $1,900 offer on the Moment, but within minutes, another buyer slid in and grabbed it for $2,007. On-chain transparency, instantly settled, all in under an hour. The market moves at internet speed, not postal speed. No grading backlog or 'lottery' on grade. No shipping risk. No “lost in the mail.” No insurance claims or chargebacks. No wondering if the corner got dinged in transit. No return fraud. No “item not as described.” No worrying about scamming from the buyer after delivery. Just instant provenance, instant liquidity, and instant flex.

This is a weird look @NBATopShot. Am I understanding correctly that he purchased it in February, you bought it from him in March, then you sold it in a pack to someone who then sold it back to him like 6 weeks later. I’m not claiming foul play, I’m just saying it’s a weird look.

With only the second Cooper Flagg @NBATopShot entering the wild last night, I have been non-stop speculating what I believe the moment to be “worth”. There are currently two different CF 1/1’s on eBay. One is a fixed price “Power Players” (not autographed) insert that was part of the Topps Flagship set; PSA 9 listed for $25,000. I can’t imagine what PSA charged to grade this card. At least a grand. The other is a “The Paint” (also non-auto) Topps; listed at $75,000. The seller wisely did not elect to grade the card. I would NEVER grade a 1/1. Pop > grade. Not worth the risk of seeing an 8 come back. The highest sale yet for a Cooper that I believe compares most closely to this moment was his Topps Chrome gold 1/1 on-card-auto. (This seller wisely elected for simply authenticating the card, which costs a fraction of what grading does, but still has the great look of being in the slab). This card sold for 180,000 at auction. Topshot collector @VelvetHoopCEB pulled the 2nd ever CF 1/1 from a Break hosted by @NBATopShot last night, and currently has the moment listed for $69,420. If my math is correct, Flagg will have a total of 7 different 1/1 moments this year on TS. (5 different plays from Signature Series, 1 Omega Rookie Revelation, and his Rookie Ultimate which highlights his first NBA game, that came out at the beginning of the season) Scarcity can’t be denied as a huge advantage for Topshot. Only 7 unique 1/1’s will be MUCH less than physical 1/1’s. (I’m sure well over 15 total) If I held one of these moments, I believe the upside for a long-term hold would be greater than current value, but that’s just my speculation on what I believe digital assets of officially licensed video that you own will do. I would not be surprised to see this moment go for the current asking price. Now, not to be overly pro-digital, but shipping and dealing with the eBay fees and transaction of a card of this value would be an absolute panic attack for me. When I sold my Steph Kaboom for a fraction of these numbers- I paid $400 to PSA, around $90 total in shipping (to/from PSA, and then to buyer), around $750 to eBay, and then had to wait weeks for the eBay “authenticators” to release my funds to me. Selling that Steph Kaboom was the final nail in the physical coffin for me. I don’t think digital will pass physical anytime soon, but I could see it happening. The transacting, transparency and lack of hoops and bs that you have to go through with physical grails is so anti-seller, but also in some ways, anti-hold. (Specifically speaking to the grading process) Soon, there will be new ways to flash your assets, like a Rolex owner does with their watch. I can’t wait to see the future of digital as it continues to grow and evolve at a seemingly exponentially fast rate. 🚀🚀🚀
