Sources have told us that Medicare24 CEO Mike van Wyk has been subpoenaed to appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry next week to testify. In an exclusive interview with @eNCA earlier this year, Van Wyk discussed his association with Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, explaining that Matlala had approached him with an interest in purchasing a Medicare24 franchise. Medicare24’s name became linked to the controversial R360-million SAPS/Medicare24 Tshwane District health risk management tender. The contract has since come under intense scrutiny and resulted in the arrest of several senior police officials. The state alleges that the tender was irregularly awarded to Matlala’s company despite concerns over licensing and compliance. FRESH LEADS ON @eNCA: Major General Anine Ziegelmeier has been appointed as the SAPS acting Divisional Commissioner for Finance. SAPS says this is in accordance with normal SAPS prescripts and Ziegelmeier has not been "elevated". Ziegelmeier is the only senior SAPS general who sat on the Bid Adjudication Committee (BAC) that approved the controversial Medicare 24 contract linked to Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, who remains unsuspended. Four other senior SAPS BAC members have been suspended. According to the Sunday World, Ziegelmeier is listed in parliamentary records as a member of the SAPS BAC that considered the R360m health risk management tender. @Abramjee
