Sonic stuff! No longer an RP account. Fan of many ships, Sonadow, Shadouge, Knuxouge, etc. Definitely NSFW!

It’s wild to me how much better of a game Samus Returns is than Prime 4. In every single capacity.

@briancocktail @reyscarradine Definitely got nothing to do with the brainless hate towards prequels, huh? And before you get all defensive, I love both OT and prequels so chill. Don't give a fuck about cartoons tho since I despise the decision to retcon Maul's death and refuse to watch it.

@KooksSpill @PalmyrPar Rey being unrelated is infinitely better and more resonant on a meta level as well as a good way to modernize it better than Lucas did with his stupid gay baby bullshit movies. They just fucked it up by letting the guy with a vision do the middle chapter and nothing else.

@PalmyrPar Sequel defenders will go on about how meaningful Rey's "found family" relationship with the Skywalkers is as if there isn't infinitely more dramatic potential in an actual kin relationship (as evidenced by the Kylo Ren character in those same movies)

>“The Skywalker Saga” >first set of movies have the father >second set of movies have the son >third set of movies have some random Palpatine-homunculus woman who takes the name in the final minute of the movie for no reason I’m starting to suspect one of these doesn’t fit.
Wes 🐍🐍🐍🐍🧍‍♂️🐍@Luke_Maxxing

Rebranding the movies as "The Skywalker Saga" as if they are one coherent 9 part story makes the fact that there is a one film gap between "Return of the Jedi" and "The Last Jedi" unbelievably funny and I think this is a good way to keep that bit going.

@ZeldaCycle I DO know Zelda lore, a fuckton of it actually. I know the whole timeline, the races, OOT's entire place in it, that's why i hate this stupid crap that doesn't fit in with any of it at all. All you can say is 'Fi is implied' and that's it, that's your best defense of it.

@BlueBlurLewd It requires you to know Zelda lore. It always gets me how the low IQ ones talk the most shit. I bet you dont even know what the major plot twists were. Totk exposed the community. Hey when Nintendo confirms its timeline placement it’s a full on roast session for most of you.

It’s amazing how Zelda fans woke up one day and decided that the Wild games were reboots, and now a good chunk of the community accepts it as fact. Crazy stuff. Only in the Zelda community.

@ZeldaCycle ??? We know exactly why? They made a game about it. Totk is not interesting at all, its story is just straight up crap. One of the worst I've seen in a major AAA release.

Timeline branch is unknown. Im leaning on merge and if not that then child timeline. We don’t know why the timeline split in the first place so who is to say it can’t merge. It doesn’t really matter what time it’s on though. It’s after OoT and it’s sequels so that’s that. That’s why Totk is the more interesting one.

@ZeldaCycle Maybe this reboot also has Fi in it idk. How does it make any sense for that to be pre OOT? We see the world, it is BOTW's Hyrule, did mountains rise and fall and shift around and then reform in the exact same way AFTER all of the iterations between OOT and BOTW?

@ZeldaCycle I mean I played 600 hours of these games combined and I dont remember oot Zelda's father factoring in. Fi is not a major part, the sword talks to Zelda but like... That's a common trope anyway? And idk when the TOTK flashbacks are meant to be, they CANT be before the old games.

What do you mean it hardly matters? Zelda’s father was killed by Ganon. This was a fight that started in OoT. The events of OoT are still shaping Hyrule thousands of years later. Totk then says hold up, that fight actually goes back further. The spirit of the Master Sword plays a big role in both games. Fi was only talked about in SS. Botw and Totk expect you to just know it. What else do they have to do?

@GoldenLink64 @MaficMonstroci1 @ManaByte Yeah on n64 a lot of their games sold well. Conker and Mickey on GBC didn't. Star Fox was a bad game that took a long time, anyone with foresight could've predicted that a sequel would not have been a good seller and I'd say Rare's output on Xbox proves they just weren't any good

@BlueBlurLewd @MaficMonstroci1 @ManaByte DK64 was the 7th best selling N64 game of all time, PD was 19, Tooie was 33, Gemini was 41 and if you want to include SF Adventures, 13th best selling GC game of all time So that's 6/7 1999+ games all within top 50, worst game here being 1.16mil units sold. idk if that's a crawl

By the end of the N64 era, Rare was missing deadlines and their output was slowing to a crawl while development costs skyrocketed. When Rare co-founders Tim and Chris Stamper put their remaining stake up for sale, they triggered a bidding war hoping Nintendo would overpay out of sentimentality.  Hiroshi Yamauchi looked at the math and refused to bite. Rare only accounted for a tiny fraction of Nintendo’s revenue at the time, and critical talent was already leaving the studio to form independent teams. Crucially, Nintendo owned the rights to Donkey Kong and Star Fox, meaning Microsoft was paying an inflated 375 million dollars for a logo and a handful of niche intellectual properties.  Passing on Rare wasn't a mistake; it was letting a competitor spend a fortune on a studio that had already peaked, freeing up resources for Nintendo to build their own internal teams and weather the GameCube era.
✨Soft Prelude✨@TrivialLight

I will always stand by the notion that them not purchasing Rare was one of their biggest mistakes.

@MaficMonstroci1 @ManaByte Ok but it sold really bad. It also isn't fun, that's kinda important. Star Fox Adventures is pretty mid. And Rare didn't make a successful game again until Sea of Thieves. It took Playtonic a decade to make Yooka Laylee any good. Just not a great track record.

@BlueBlurLewd @ManaByte Purely because it released during the height of the N64's popularity and wasn't a mature rated game like Conker. That's not indicative of Rare losing their touch or whatever, especially considering Conker received comparable critical acclaim.
