Everyone who employs or works with ATs should take a listen to this! ATs don’t get an offseason…and they work over breaks and the summer…make sure you are respectful of their time and value what they bring to your programs!
THSADA@OfficialTHSADA

Athletic trainers don’t get an offseason and they rarely get a break. While others reset, they’re still showing up, putting athletes first every single day. Too often, “they get lost in the sauce.” @WacoISD is changing that by scheduling meetings, staying connected, and making sure their trainers are seen, supported, and valued. Because supporting those who care for athletes isn’t optional, it’s necessary.

Its a critical thing to recognize when staffing needs are considered. Game and practice schedules are written and games are moved or added to the schedule!

The morning you get your cast, boot, or brace off after and injury does not mean you immediately return to full sports that evening. The injured structure may be healed but the strength and mobility lost from the injury need to be restored.

Athletic trainers keep athletes safe, but they need support to do it right. From ensuring equipment is calibrated, to planning for playoff seasons, to giving trainers time off, smart ADs recognize that investing in your trainers is investing in your program. An important reminder that when ATs have the adequate resources, coverage, and respect they deserve, everyone wins.

After a concussion, your brain can get stuck in fight or flight. That’s why you feel: • Anxiety • Overwhelm • Panic Not weakness. Not failure. Protection. To recover, you have to shift the system: → Rhythmic tapping → Movement → Aerobic exercise Exercise is medicine.

You’re not failing. You’re overloaded. After a concussion, your brain has less energy — but life doesn’t slow down. Symptoms aren’t weakness. They’re your brain protecting you. — Send this to someone who needs it.

Most people think concussions in basketball come from big, obvious collisions. But many happen in moments like this. Rebounding creates: • Unpredictable contact • High impact And it happens fast. Understanding where risk exists is how we protect athletes better. 🧠

Shouting from the rooftops!!!!
BJ Maack@bjmaack

With this being #NATM2026 and bringing what athletic trainers do to the forefront, it’s a good time to get the word out. Don’t use “ATC” when referring to the person. Just say “AT.” The former is a credential, the latter is who it is.
