#Update: A second chance for the Iryna Zarutska mural in Providence. After controversy downtown, Opa The Phoenician on Federal Hill tells me they’ll host a new mural honoring the slain Ukrainian refugee. Work is underway. @NBC10

@wpri12 @DavidMoralesPVD Imagine losing an election to David Morales. At that point, you could hand the job to a fifth grader with a hall pass and a juice box, and the city might still get more done. @PVDMayor

@JasonKnightRI Running for Attorney General in Rhode Island should be about enforcing the law, fighting crime, and protecting taxpayers, not bragging about opening a bike bridge.

Exciting news: the East Bay Bike Path bridges are reopening to the public Monday! This is the result of the type of clear, consistent advocacy I'll bring to the AG's office to keep serving Rhode Islanders from day one. Will I see you out on the bike path this spring? 🚲

@pvdcitycouncil Who keeps voting for these people? At this point, forget voter ID, maybe we need a basic civics test before someone gets a ballot.

At Wednesday's press conference, Councilwoman Harris talked about the latest addition to the City Council's toolbox in fighting the housing crisis. The Boosting Urban Investment to Launch Development Act, or BUILD Act, is new legislation that would help ramp up affordable housing development by removing an unfair tax burden during the construction process. Take 1 minute today to protect the First Amendment. An artist and private business displayed an elegant and tasteful memorial/mural - Mayor Smiley objected. The First Amendment is first for a reason. When government interferes with free expression, it’s not a minor offense—it’s a serious matter. Call the Mayor’s office today and ask him to apologize for intruding on the First Amendment rights of an artist and a business. You can say: “I’m urging the Mayor to respect the First Amendment and apologize for his interference with the mural.” 📞 311 (The Providence Help Line) 📞 401-680-5000

Dial down the temperature”? That’s rich coming from Brett Smiley after forcing a private property owner to remove a mural because City Hall didn’t like the message. You don’t get to talk about lowering the temperature while escalating government pressure over speech and expression.

Another uninformed voice in favor of rent stabilization. Who thought it was a good idea to put someone this unprepared into office? Rent stabilization sounds simple, but it distorts markets, discourages new housing construction, and ultimately makes affordability worse, not better. Leave serious economic policy to the adults, little man.

Supporting rent stabilization is not a serious housing strategy. It reflects a failure to understand basic economics. If you think restricting supply lowers prices, then you simply do not understand how markets work and voting that way only makes the housing crisis worse for everyone.

@WesternLensman The #NoKings movement claims to stand against concentrated power, but it’s backed by Indivisible, which itself receives funding from billionaire donors. So what’s the point of pretending this is some grassroots uprising against elites?

Providence Mayor on why wants the Iryna Zarutska mural to come down: “A movement was funded by some right-wing billionaires." “It wasn't bringing us together as a community." In other words: The mural is a powerful reminder of the disastrous failures of his party’s policies.

If property owners are expected to pay their taxes and follow the law, they should also have the freedom to decide what happens to their own buildings. @pvdcitycouncil & @PVDMayor don’t get to pick winners and losers based on politics or pressure. That’s not leadership, this is control. You can’t say #NoKings while acting like one. Right @EnriqueForRI @DavidMoralesPVD @JenStewartRI ?
