European democracies are on the verge of electing leaders who answer directly to Moscow. The image of European politicians participating in Russia's flagship economic event should shock the conscience of the West. This event is a dark reminder of the immense danger looming over the continent. The traditional pillars of European strength and stability, specifically France, Germany, and the UK, are at risk of being hijacked by political networks beholden to the Kremlin. @prodnose I don't agree. The expanded World Cup has made the group stages more interesting. You will still get the big countries locking horns in the latter stages. Group games have often been stale in previous tournaments. This one has been good so far.

The 48 team World Cup is a nonsense of course. Like having a boxing tournament where kids get to fight heavyweights just because they won a couple of preliminaries.

In my opinion the staleness of the Cymru Prem has been due to the lack of desire from fans to travel and create a proper football atmosphere. The second tier is better because of the proximity.

Friday nights are the way forward. I've seen at @PenybontFC_ far bigger Friday night crowds and better atmospheres, regularly.

The Makerfield result has left me genuinely concerned about the direction of this country. After everything that has happened over the past few weeks, I struggle to understand how so many people still believe Labour are the answer. Completely stunned and very close to losing hope.

@jneill What we did see though is the coalition of the progressive vote around a single candidate. I call this the Farage effect, and it is the reason that Reform cannot win a majority in a GE. The anyone but Reform vote is too strong.

And the right-wing vote in Makerfield has been consistent for more than a decade. Same voters, just different parties; Conservative, Reform, Restore, UKIP, Brexit Party combined share: 42% in 2015 42% in 2017 47% in 2019 43% in 2024 44% in 2026

Worth saying that Makerfield is over 95% white. If you listened to Elon’s X, and the infinity American influencers on here, you’d think Labour only wins seats because of Muslims and ethnic minorities.

The Equality Act was 2010. Farage has been a full-time pundit and politician for 16 years: only now does he describe it as “anti-white”. So Reform is evolving: now deploying language of racial politics. A gamble, seeing UK has hitherto rejected this rhetoric.

It's surreal seeing Spurs getting business done early. We desperately need a goalscorer though.
