The single biggest turncoat in Afrikaner history (perhaps with the exception of Piet de Wet) was appointed by President Ramaphosa as South Africa's ambassador to the United States. 😂 Roelf Meyer even admitted during a TV interview a few years ago that he is a liar, saying that politicians like himself sometimes make promises to their constituencies, knowing very well that they will not keep their promises. According to him, it's fine if he does it, because that's simply what politicians do. Ramaphosa himself said of Meyer (who was chief negotiator for the NP during the negotiations of the 1990s) that it was astonishing that Meyer was so excited about the outcome of the negotiations, despite the fact that he gave up everything. After negotiating with the ANC, Meyer joined the ANC. He remains a proud member of the party that actively persecutes his own people.

Food for thought. Yes, the New Great Game is unfolding. No nation stands to gain more from a closure of the Strait of Hormuz than the United States, across the short, medium, and long term. This logic is embedded in President Trump’s National Security Strategy, with the Trump Doctrine now visible in practice. Strategically, China loses on multiple fronts with Hormuz closed: seaborne Middle Eastern supplies are constrained just as Venezuelan crude is increasingly redirected toward the U.S. Gulf Coast on short, politically secure routes. At the same time, the Strait of Malacca, and with it, the broader Malacca Dilemma, moves to the center of gravity. In parallel, the Sunda, Lombok, Makassar, and Mindoro Straits remain critical arteries for Chinese trade and energy flows. Together, they constitute the geographic chokepoints of Beijing’s vulnerability, and Washington is acutely aware of this. Yes, the New Great Game is unfolding, and Wall Street has yet to comprehend the consequences.

Let's simplify it: I have a job that needs doing, and I value that "doing" at R2000 per month. I do it myself, but if someone else is willing to do it for R2k, great. An immigrant with dubious status is perfectly willing to do it. No complaints. No worries. Their dubious status means I have dirt on them, and my "low wage" means they have dirt on me. Symbiosis! Now the immigrant gets kicked out. None of this means that suddenly, out of thin air, I am willing to pay whatever some academics decided the minimum wage is. I still only value that job being done for me, at R2k. The immigrant lost his job. No South African is slotting in. This stuff is insanely simple. Harming immigrants do not secure any jobs for South Africans.

There are two perspectives that the young people who are protesting for jobs can be exposed to. One is false and comforting, while the other is true and discomforting. The first basically says that immigrants are the source of the problem, and that it can be resolved by kicking them out and reserving entry-level positions and the like. The second is that labour policy is the problem, and that we can get more investment in locals by allowing them to opt out of it through a JSEC or by devolving the functions of the Labour Department to the lowest level. You can kick the immigrants out and reserve jobs, but you will not automatically shift them to locals if you don't address why they weren't given to them in the first place.

The demand for Elon Musk to surrender 30% of his business to operate in South Africa is absurd. Bringing infrastructure, creating high-skill jobs, and expanding the national tax base should be more than enough contribution from any global entity. The South African government claims this is about compliance, but in reality, it's a system of state sanctioned theft. While other corporations have quietly paid for political patronage to bypass these rules, Musk is calling out the corruption. This 30% norm hasn't empowered the people, it has simply enriched a circle of political elites. Most businesses take the easy way out and pay the bribe, but Musk has the integrity to stand his ground and expose the rot.

South Africa won’t allow Starlink to be licensed, even though I was BORN THERE, simply because I am not Black! We were offered many times the opportunity to bribe our way to a license by pretending that a Black guy runs Starlink SA, but I have refused to do so on principle. Racism should not be rewarded no matter to which race it is applied. Shame on the racist politicians in South Africa.
